Just tought I`d bring this one back to life, because...

1. I tought it was intersting for everyone to read and...

2. I want to take the time to organise my mp3s but I need help doing it. What I want to do is creat logic folders (I believe that`s what they are called...). I saw this once on an ftp and think it`s brilliant. Let me explain the concept: Let`s say you have a song from artist A and consider it to be hardtrance and you also consider it an excellent song. Normally you would have to choose to create one of the three possible structures and put the song in it, or copy the song three times.

With logic folders you can achive all three structures and only have the song in one of them or in a completely different folder. In the folder Artist A, the folder hardtrance and in the folder excellent you would find something like a link to that song without the song being really there.

The question I have is: Does anyone know how to create these folders in Windows? I once saw them and they had a red arrow in the folder icon marking them as logic folders.

If anyone knows how to create these folders or if you just want to tell us how you organise your mp3s (or if you have already posted here and changed your way of organising them) please reply here!

Cheers!

Sir. Lunchalot

I have mine categorized by #'s... for instance:

01 = EuroDance/EuroTrance(EuroCheese..as some of u would call it)

02 = Trance ! (period)

03 = Full Albums/Mixes (anything over 15min. in length)

04 = Old stuff (mixed EuroStuff..and Trance)

05 = GOA

06 = Hypertrance (Happy Hardcore...suff like that)

======================>E x a m p l e s <========================

01 - Dj Sammy feat. Do (whatever Mix)
02 - Plastic Angel - Hardwired
03 - Tunnel Trance Force Vol. 19 CD (Whatever Mix)

u get my drift!!! if u wanna add more #'s for different stylezzzz. like Techno, Schranz, Rock, Rap.. whatever else u might like.

Yup seems to me all ya gotta do Sir. Lunchalot
is to create a shortcut of the song and put it into you folders.

Sorting my MP3s :

All new downloads regardless of genre go into a new downloads folder. When testing it out in winamp I edit the tags if necessary and enter the date I downloaded it into the comment box. This is mainly the folder i listen to most since its the fresher songs.

After that i sort them into 1 of 25 different genre folders.
(African; African Hip Hop; Chill; Classic House; Classics; Conscious; Euro Trash; Full Albums; Happy HardCore; Hard Trance; Hip Hop; Hip Pop; House; Jungle; Live Sets; Old Skool; Oldies; Progressive; R n B; Reggae; Rock; Spoken Word; TRANCE; Tribal House; Trip Hop.)

every time a song i get doesn't fit any category i add a new folder.

Once I get a burner I'll try and burn CD's according to category. And once burned onto CD they get indexed in my MP3 database program.

I think thats it. Felt like sharing this little obession of mine... But its not hard to do at all.

Peace...

Well, I sort by rating the tracks and sorting them to proper genres.

All euphoric trance.other genres go to top 10/10 folders. All 7/10 stuff go to other folders. Any other genres are, not all, rated and placed in proper folders. Any track I consider no good, gets deleted.

Main DIRS:

Transic [dedicated to euphoric]
Hard [progressive, dark, etc..]
Goa/Psy
House
Breaks
New Age
Mainstream
