I did.
In highschool I was notorious for it. One of my favs methods was, when writing an exam/test, making sure to sit next to the recycle bin that was always somewhere near the wall. I would come in, sit down, look over my papers, and then toss the cheat sheet in the recycle bin. Then during the test I would either read out of the recycle bin directly, or drop a pen, pick up the paper out of the bin, paperclip it behind my test and away I went. A good solid one is to use the same thing except replace dropping paper into recycle bin for putting it under your sweater. Takes all of 5 minutes to think of/set up, and had 100% success rate.
Another one I remember using was either taping the cheet sheet quickly before the test underneath the desk, or i even went as far as using magnets when the desk had a metal bottom. But once I know a classmate saw because a corner started hanging down, but he/she didn't rat me out. I stopped using it after that.
Hahha, but one of my laziest methods was just bringing in the whole textbook and placing it on my lap for my gr.10 religion exam. The teacher didn't give a shit - he read/napped during the test.
In university I only cheated once, I think. (I can't remember if I planned on doing it and did it, or planned on doing it and didn't.) The risk/return analysis in university deals different results than in highschool:
a) The penalty is much harsher.
b) The risk is somewhat higher.
c) Half the time we're allowed using cheat sheets anyway. (I think sometimes profs are sadistic with that because they'll allow cheat sheets for a course where it's pointless to put anything on the cheat sheet unless you put down the entire OpenGL API.
d) The other time, the exam tests your thinking ability and not stuff you can put down on paper. I remember one time bringing in a full typed page of cheat notes for an exam, and never having to use it because all the stuff i put on it I didn't need/already knew.
I don't really judge people who cheat because I think everybody has been in a situation where they had to be less-than-honest in order to get out of it. If I see a person cheating, I think it's safe to assume that there's a reason as to why they are taking that extra risk.
