Funny you say that about two radically liberal cities/regions, kind of like Austin. I'd assume you wouldn't think of such a thing.

I used to live in the California myself, just north of San Jose and east of Palo Alto in the Tri City Area. Austin is liberal for Texas, but it feels skin deep relative to the Bay Area, and I'm not particularly fond of Orange county or LA due to the superficiality there. Austin is dead though completely corporate now, and the Bay Area dying too. I haven't been there in a few years, so I don't know exactly how corporate it's become and how dead the local culture is.
