A long time ago in high school, my friend and I ditched school to go to the mall. I ended up locking myself out of my car. Security had to call my mother to verify that it was my car lol.

I think the probability of a person locking themselves out, depends on the type of locking system them have. If you have manual locks then you usually just push the lock down as you exit your car, as opposed to sticking in your key to lock the door. If you have a remote control lock then you probably will never lock yourself out.

I locked myself out of my truck with manual locks twice. I've never locked myself out of my newest car though since I have a remote.

Man, that sucks. I've got the keyless entry on my car. You know the numeric buttons on the door handle and you have to put in a 5 digit code.

I don't think I've ever locked my keys in my car, but I've used that keyless entry many times because I'll throw my keys in my trunk or hide them in the visor because I don't want to carry my keys with my (like when I go to concerts or something).

A lot of keyless entry systems don't allow you to lock your keys in the car. Like mine for instance. It has some sort of sensor or chip that if it is in the car, I can't lock my keys in it. I tried it for shits and giggles one day, and I really couldn't.

It did too have something to do with Starbucks, that's what lead to this whole escapade!

I still don't know how I did it. I must have been so excited to see my friend lol!

And I'm still pissed about all that gas being wasted.

But no need to worry any longer - the bf added me to his AAA that same afternoon, and 2 more spare keys were made. (one for the bf, one to leave in my desk at work too)

my car isn't one of those fancy ones that don't allow you to lock your keys in your car.... it doesn't ding or refuse to lock the door, and I don't have a clicker.

(even though it's a brand new car, year 2007 )

i never close my car door with the keys in them without putting a window down first. so yea, i've never locked my keys in my car and probably never will lol
