Just listened to it once so far...
First impression. Started promising, but as it went on, was rather... underwhelming.

lots of good individual tracks, but just the way this cd was put together... something is lacking.

edit: the last tune is absolutely bloody awful

The first half broods along but it is rather underwhelming, but the mix picks up like crazy with the Ladytron track and that M83 track which is just straight epic. Everything else after is good too. DIdnt' mind the last track as well.

I think the first half will grow on me, as I didnt' exactly hate it, but overall right now I think the first Involver was better overall from beginning to end. Like it's really good from track 1, all the way to "On my Own"...and lets not forget that amazing mix of Lostep's Burma, or that Petter track. I liked Involver right away from the get go, and the disc as a whole held steadily throughout its duration.

Invol2ver's first half really bogs it down, but I THINK it may grow on me. The second half is really amazing and reminds me of the Sasha that we all used to know. So overall as a single disc, for me right now, the second half is the reason to purchase this, and this is why I believe as a whole the disc doesn't stand up as well to Involver.

I suspect that if it wasn't for the Involver label (and it's massive hype), people would enjoy this cd more

Well there's ALWAYS been hype and expectations with any project Sasha has done. I guess Mixmag didn't do him any favours by naming him "son of God" in the past, but I believe this stigma still affects the guy today.

But seriously, the first half is a bit on that dull side. I know everyone is going on this techno/minimal bandwagan and I know the first half isn't either of those genres. But it still seems like he's on purpose holding himself back too much on tracks.

lol....your review was very similar to mine after i listened to it the first time. I 100% agree that the CD REALLY takes off with the Ladytron track...which i LOOOOOOVE.

I just finished my 2nd round....and i have to say, i now TOTALLY appreciate the first half of the CD as well. I can tell i'm going to love it more and more with every listen. This CD has an amazing progression and flow between tracks, just like the first one, and i see so many similarities between the 2 albums, which is exactly what i was hoping for.
