FL is a good tool to sketch out ideas quickly, arrange sections, create drum programming, run vst instruments, etc

it's not the same as a full studio!

seems unlikely that any major producers are using FL as a complete workstation

So FL Studio is great for doing everything a DAW can do but isn't a "real" DAW?

no need to get into "what's a real DAW"

but for example I also use a wav editor which can do some processing that is much more irritating to do with FL

not presuming to know much about super pro production but very often there are more elements involved than just one simple program

Oh, agreed on that. WAV editing is irritating for me in FL as well. I don't disagree that particular software is better for different people in terms of workflow... however, saying it's not capable as any other DAW or that no pros are using it is just not true.

yep seems like we agree. maybe I'm just saying that people might misunderstand what exactly a producer means when they mention that they use fruity. as in, they probably don't mean "I program/mix/master all my tracks with it on my home computer"

i'm from FL (florida) AND i produce everything on FL (studio)!


the only thing i find weak about FL studio is the mastering. everything i make sounds great on my headphones but shit everywhere else. however that might also just be me being a dumbass...

I have to eq my tracks pretty mentally when playing them out, too. Mastering on headphones is definitely for dumbasses, though

I wish I didn't have to ReWire FL Studio to something else to make it a slave. That's one of my few qualms with the program, otherwise I use it all the time.

Today I ReWired FL Studio and Ableton Live just so I could use an external synth (mostly to see what would happen though). Definitely a lot of trouble and I have the feeling I will be bouncing down a lot of tracks if I decide to mix my outboard gear and software.
