this is kinda nit-picky but I always differentiated between "minimalism" in music and "minimal" music.
"minimalism" comes out of steve reich/terry riley and refers specifically to repeating an idea and slowly expanding on it.
"minimal" just means slowing it down or taking taking some of the shit out. strangely though, lots of minimal techno is actually super complicated compared to "maximal" stuff like gabber -- a slower tempo gives a lot of room for more complicated rhythms.

techno is not relevant to the speed it is played at...not all techno needs to be like schranz.

Schranz isn't that fast. You should hear the 185bpm stuff.

EDIT: although... honestly... it still feels a bit like tech house (maybe even acid house? and the site i bought it off lists it as detroit techno) with pace. maybe it's the version i'm listening to? this one is called the "real love mixdown"
jay check out this crowdpleaser mix i peeped on his myspace - http://soundcloud.com/crowdpleaser/crowdpleasers-fly-july-mix

You got the right version! Yep, it definitely feels like tech house and it's listed as techno.
But just listen to that melody! And epic epic breakdowns! Of course, no "trance" DJ would ever play this, but I honestly think it's fair that we reclaim the term and start using it to describe good shit.
any takers?

Here is more, I guess. I wouldn't really associate this with trance though; just techno or melodic techno, if you will. Chymera does lots of similar music, too.
Did you miss the "neo-trance" craziness in 06/07 by any chance? That term faded so quickly, it didn't even have time to establish itself.
