I believe the marrying age in Ontario is 18. So i guess its possible that a man who is 21, married and has 2 children will have to ask mommy and daddy to drive his family around town? In toronto its not as common but just think about the rest of the province where scenarios like this are very common.
This law really goes too far.

sorry, I just had to quote that. It's the first time in recent memory (if at all) that you've said something positive about a Liberal politician at any level, lol. (btw...bash the gov't of the other 3 provinces who implemented this already, not just the McGuinty gov't).

If Liberals were worth complimenting more often then i would do it more often. As for the other 3 provinces, its just as wrong there as it is here. The fact that this is obviously nothing more than knee jerk reaction to placate special interests who had enough money to take their whine to a full page newspaper ad is almost as disturbing as the law itself.

Instead of picking an age bracket to villainize, why not place the ban on anyone still using a G2 license??
If you have a G1, you need a lisenced driver with you anyways, who would be responsible for what happens inthe car - no D&D or risk of distraction there.
G2 drivers are limited in the number of friends they may drive, a bitch for commuters and DDs, but still reasonable.
Telling someone who holds a G license they can't fill their car is ludicrous. If they aren't to be trusted with passengers, they aren't to be trusted with a car. This is what graduated licensing is for!
Enough with the micro-management, Dalton. Fuck!

Exactly.. and even then i still say the current system suffices. We are still going to see "tragic accidents" regardless of these silly laws.

While I can agree with the zero-tolerance for alcohol in the system, what I can't agree with is:
| quote: |
Under the new bill, teenage drivers in Ontario would only be allowed one passenger aged 16 to 19 -- although there would be exemptions for brothers and sisters. Studies show just one teenage passenger with a teen driver doubles the chances of an accident.

So, if your driving somewhere alone - fine
Driving somewhere with ONE friend - fine
Driving some where with 2 or 3 friends? Sorry - ask mom & pops to take you there? eh?
As kids move out at younger ages to go to University, they can't be trusted to drive with more than 1 friend in the car? really? *boggle*
When I lived on residence, I was the only one in my group of friends who had a car - and I'd also frequently be the DD. This would pretty much stop the ability to pile into a car with 4 other people (1 in the front, 3 in the back), go off to a bar - then drive them all home SAFELY.
