good film, but my main issue was with the MIA tracks. i like Maya, but she is Sri Lankan not Indian. Dont they hate each other? I know they have fought wars and such...
that was a little confusing, oh and most of India has never even heard of this movie. most of the topics are not something the indian govt wants to show off|

I dont think I have ever wanted anything as bad as that kid wanted the actors autograph. That was just nasty.

Amitabh Bachan on this movie:
“If SM projects India as Third World dirty underbelly developing nation and causes pain and disgust among nationalists and patriots, let it be known that a murky underbelly exists and thrives even in the most developed nations. It’s just that the SM idea authored by an Indian and conceived and cinematically put together by a Westerner, gets creative Globe recognition. The other would perhaps not.”

A.R. Rahman was the one who invited her to work on the soundtrack. To the best of my knowledge, Sri Lankans and Indians have never really fought wars... but my knowledge of the history of the sub-continent is contemporary at best.
It was a little odd though, and only serves to further the impression in the US that she is Indian (initiated by the Timbaland collab where he used the line "girl take me to your teepee" which was just all sorts of wrong).

I enjoyed this movie. Not quite sure if it is best-picture worthy though. It was great the way everything tied together with the answers to the questions but I didn't quite buy the romance. I think I preferred 'Milk'.
