"A studio environment is there to be exploited. I don't really hold with these 'all live on 2 decks mixes'. If you want that, go to the gig." - Ben Watt

TT-1 or TT-2?
Numark TT series were pretty decent, I never had a problem with it, except the torq power were less than the technics at the time.
My first ever time as DJ was in college and was using Pioneer sound project model 300, Techinics SL-DL1 turntable and JVC KD-V350A/B/C/E/J/U Cassette Deck then my passion for djing started where I got my first real mixer.

Realistic piece of shit battery powered mixer with no cueing
Gemini XL-100 (worst turntable out there by far. feathering the record STOPS it, platter is made of plastic and bends, skips like crazy, pitch is horizontal and tiny, has less torque than a hot wheels car, etc)
Stanton Str8-50 (decent belt drive deck except mine was kinda sketchy)
i learned to spin with my friends, so by the time i got to acquiring gear, i knew better than to buy crap.
my first gear i guess would be the decks i learned on.
2x Stanton STR8-80s + Stanton SK6 Mixer
little torque on those decks, had to be gentle.
after that, my friend bought a CDJ-800. was fun as hell to mess with, first time i layed hands on a CDJ. he then upgraded to Tech12s and so on, so forth.
Some shitty belt drive Numarks that I don't remember the model of, and an equally shitty 2-channel 2-band eq Behringer mixer. Ahh high school.

Not the best, but certainly not the worst!

VTT running through a stereo to mono splitter on a P1 166mhz Toshiba Satellite with 32MB of RAM and Windows 98SE to a DJM-500.
Still use the DJM-500 and think it and its bigger brother the 600 are still some of the best made mixers, maybe not in sound, but the things are total tanks.
