Before I was into dance music I liked mainstream stuff like Fergie and rock (all kinds) like AFI, Nickelback
I still enjoy the rock but I don't like any mainstream crap.

Grew up with my mom's music collection; ELP, Phil Collins/Genesis, King Crimson, etc. In my early teens I went through my rebellious phase and I got into pretty much every kind of music there is (usually for no longer than a month). EDM was one of the last stops. Was into that for a good 5-6 years, then I've sort of got bored of it, but I still enjoy it once in a long while.

Stuff like Blink 182, Green Day, Nirvana, Korn etc when I was around 12. Still listen to a lot of pop-punk/hardcore-type stuff.

First band I loved was dIRE sTRAITS. Then later I got into heavier rock/metal like Guns n' Roses and Metallica etc. Started getting into and buying dance music when I was like 17, which was obviously the harder sounding stuff at first. These days I don't really discriminate against genres, although I listen to techno most of the time.
Sandra, also Michel Cretu. Anything played on the Eurovision Song Contests in the 80's (almost, mostly the germans, norwegians and the swedes had awesome tracks back then). Also Stephanié de Monaco made a great track called "Flash" I listened to 100x times. Eurythmics was an early favourite too, had a live-performance on VHS I wore out totally at like '86 or something, maybe even earlier. Not to forget Lasse Holms awesome productions throughout the 80's, he's still my idol tbh

I always liked a mixture of things. never was too into one genre. even today, although I gravitate towards a more electronic sound I respect and listen to almost all types of music if it has merit or envokes some kind of emotion in me.
as a kid I was the same way, only with a cheesier twist. I started buying music and listening to it on a daily basis around 11. I still had a variety in taste back then but I mostly liked the nu-metal crap with its explosion in the early 00s. then I remember moving onto a little more serious stuff like Rage Against The Machine but for the most part alternative rock was my main genre before electronic music
I always had a soft spot for it though because of stuff my dad used to play around the house and I remember going ape shit over the Mortal Kombat and Matrix soundtracks as a kid which had a lot of electronic influence. that prompted me to dig deeper
Ive been a mix of everything growing up. My stepdad was purely country music. My dad taught me all about Motown/Classic Rock/Funk. Im from DC so Hip Hop has allways been an incredibly huge influence on me. Allways will be my 1st and foremost genre.
I came into dance music when I bought a new CD called DJ Icey's "Essential Mix". Track 8 is what turned me into a huge EDM fan. KayCee's "Escape". After I heard that song Ive been hooked on EDM since. Still not that big on DnB though.
