The venue hasn't been confirmed, all I know that it's outdoors. But central park cannot hold a capacity of 15,000 people. PVD packed it out at about 5,000. Unless, they hold it in another part of the park. I heard that Bon Jovi had a concert with 60,000 in another part of the park, but, I don't think it'll be in central park. But, anyway who cares about central park? That venue sucks in my opinion I'm thinking maybe Randall's Island, which is a small island in the east river between Queens and the Bronx. I've been to raves there before. They also have a soccer stadium there. But, honestly I really have no clue where it's gonna be. As soon as I found out u guys will know right away. I'm just waiting on my homegirl to find out more information.
No, this definitely will not be an all ages event. Tiesto has never throw an all ages event in New York. Tiesto wouldn't jeopardize his own integrity for ticket sales. Only Pvd, not even Armin. Besides this is an Area Event, this is not Made Event. They're the ones that throw those PVD all age events. Area would never do such a thing. So if that's what you're worried about, then u have nothing to worry about. When they announce the gig, make plans to come. |
I never thought I'd see the words integrity and Tiesto in the same sentence.
oh by the way...please use the event forum for crap like this.

Ok, so let me set the record straight. If you read the very 1st message on this thread I stated that I do have confirmation for this event. This came from a friend of mind who knows the Main Promoter for Area Events in NY. They promote all of Tiesto's parties in the United States, I'm not sure about Canada but I don't think so. What he told my friend is that this event is definitely happening, booked for 9/26/09. He didn't reveal the venue to her, but he said it will be an outdoor venue and that he is expecting 15,000 people, though I don't know where that many people are going to come from, because we've never held an event that big here in New York City for electronic music. That's why I came to the Canada forum to get an idea about that, because I know how u guys get down up there.
I'm really sorry that you misunderstood what I said, I should of been more clearer about that, but now u know. I would never have the nerve to come on this forum and create a thread to misinform and persuade people from other parts of the continent to make a pilgrimage to NYC for no reason. I have better things to do besides that, believe me.
So again, this gig isn't a rumour, a speculation, this event has been confirmed with me, my source is official she will be selling tickets for this event, whether u want to believe me it's up to you. But you'll see in a couple of months when they announce it officially. |
If the date is correct, one would assume that it is apart of Ultra NYC and he will do a special TIC gig in conjunction with. It makes sense because Ultra + TIC would create a bigger draw in a mediocre environment for EDM lovers. Which tells me that if he indeed does an outdoor event, it will have a larger possibilty to be in Central park.
And why is it that he would lose his integrity for all-age ticket sales? PVD in central park has children at it every year? Doesnt seem to deter anyone from coming??

YankeeGirl I understand what your saying, all I'm saying is that if it's gonna be in central park it couldn't be at the Rumsey Playfield because that can only fit 5k. Also on top of that, eventhough I know that the 2 prior Ultra's have been hosted in 05-06, I have had no confirmation of an Ultra Ny whatsoever so far. We haven't had an Ultra Ny since 9/2006. But, if you do know about it, please let me know, because I haven't heard of it. If it is part of Ultra, honestly, I would be a bit disappointed about it, because I feel that that is kind of lame that Tiesto would need other DJs to assist him in drawing that kind of crowd, considering his reputation.

Tiesticle one greedy mother ******. Note the all ages seated hockey arena show he played at Ricoh Colesium here in Toronto in the summer for the most recent proof.
What were floors (aka the only place with room to fuckin dance) going for? Something in the neighbourhood of $100-$150 or something?
Come on. Don't blow smoke up our asses. |
Do you really think he decides every show if it'll be all-ages or not? I think its more the promoters and the licenses and laws. Some places if you have liquor licenses, it has to be no-minors allowed. Or if you are using an all-ages venue, you must make it all ages and have it end at a certain time, etc etc. Maybe Ricoh was the only venue that allowed for such a show and as such had to be all-ages. And do you think if it was held there and wasn't all ages, it wouldn't have sold out anyway? I would be surprised if it was Tiesto himself and not his management or agency or the promoters that decided how the show was run, aside from his In Concert's in Holland.
If you know otherwise, please correct me. I just know that's how things work around here.

Well honestly, I'm not getting my hopes up for 15,000k. I'm thinking more along the lines of 8-10k, considering the fact that they're throwing this on a Saturday when everyone will be off of work and school. So you figure most of his fans up and down the east coast, and some from canada will be making the "journey". That why I was informing people way ahead of time, not to make plans just of yet, but to get word out so that they might consider.

Thierry, I totally agree with you on that point. Actually, I wanted to make that point, but, you got to it before I did. It really is the promoter's decision to set an age limit. But, I would imagine that the dj does have some say in the matter, but I don't know to what extent. I don't have a problem with a younger generation of fans, as long as they know how to behave, and unfortunately, on many occasions they don't. I still remember the good old days when I first discovered electronic music, I was 20 years old. Today is actually my birthday I just turned 27. Yey, happy birthday to me!!!
