I would say 3 or 4 times at circus. 2 at arena, 1 at vangard, and 1 at armin only in the streets of LA allows me to pass judgement on what his sound is like. Dont get me wrong, He is one of the few trance DJ's that still amuse me. But I would not consider the lineup at Circus on Feb 7th as changing it up by any stretch of the imagination.

Clovis: The wall is listening! And here's its reply : most of those gigs happened a long time ago and Piet's style has changed since then. Also, you can't even count the Armin Only event because Piet and Benno were hired to play a 20-min live set of their biggest (& fluffy) songs. Of course Piet could play a trick on me and play the fluffiest set ever next Saturday, if he reads my posts here, because he loves to piss me off And btw, I never claimed Rank 1 playing at Circus would be a huge change (Rank 1 was booked by Nikita btw, not Circus)

Piet was a special request to Nakita by many TAs and they made it happen, some of us old schools still love the so called Anthems, The difference with Piet is when he drops one of them it's usually one that he helped produce, in reality he can play Airwave, Symsonic and There Be Light all night and its perfectly fine

yea, all I was saying is that Circus books trance. That is all Nikita booked. I know you are friends with piet, and a fan, but Rank 1 is no exception thus he should be categorized with the others i mentioned. Yes the gigs were a while ago, but he hasnt been out since vangard has he?
RED tried to go outside of trance a bit. Henry brought out guys like Lexicon Ave, and other progressive acts, as well as the hard stuff like scot project and Yoji. The prog acts never really did well in terms of numbers.

Yep, Nikita is all about trance. RED definitely didn't do well with non-trance djs, maybe partially because the other genres were and still are so well represented at Avalon and Vanguard with much bigger names. Trance works pretty well for Circus because it can be hard to find trance elsewhere on Saturday nights.

agreed, but this thread is about trying to bring in new DJ's to expand their crowd. The trance that has branded Circus has kept many clubbers away. Now, to please the built in crowd they have, they need to keep a narrow mind in terms of bookings. As we mentioned, RED tried other stuff and it flopped. It hasnt worked since Spundae was there...
