glad to see you back on the HBO bandwagon, Jamie. Big Love is currently the best show playing right now IMO. Everything else is on re-runs. There have been like 6 episodes of this season now though, so maybe wait a couple more weeks until they start showing them all again from the start.

Actually, have you never watched the show before at all? Maybe rent the DVD's if you have time. I'd recommend starting from scratch to get into the characters. This season (3rd one I think) is particularly juicy

I absolutely love it, but that's just crazy man. Definitely shits all over anything primetime though (that's not named Lost).

I have no experience with the new one at all so I can't say... but my guess is that special effects, acting, and writing of the show today blows away the one from back then.

I've never seen the original one, but I can't imagine how the original could be any deeper than the new one.

the only show i can think of that matches it for depth is the west wing, which i think is the second best show ever written

Haven't seen the West Wing but these are the shows that are better than BSG in my opinion:

Carnivale, Lost, The Wire. In no particular order. Not trying to knock BSG though because it's like comparing 24K Gold to 12K Gold. It's all better than dog turd (which what everything else on TV is).

My main beef with BSG is the seemingly random plot twists at times. The whole "New Caprica" angle imo was just garbage. I realize that some critical story moments came out of it later on but as a whole that felt like such a waste of 6 episodes. And WTF happened with Baltar?? The guy was like...THE main character in the whole story for 2 or 3 seasons and now he's the leader of some all-female cult. Seriously...WHAT. THE. FUCK.

agreed. sometimes their choices felt a little iffy to me. but honestly, consdering how many episodes of season 3 i thought were pretty damn average, im totally in love with 4.
