None of which has anything to do with the "footballing sense" of better. And it's not as if Arsenal don't have shit fans and a bad atmosphere either. The only reason they don't think they have a God-given right to win things is because they aren't good enough, for all their pretty passing. |
United aren't as pretty as Arsenal. They have different strengths. Their defence is better than Arsenals, Arsenal have a better central midfielder in Fabregas and Arshavin who can't play tonight is as good as ronaldo, not as fast but technically just as good and offers more balance. United have Berbatov upfront who slows everything down, Rooney who is still a bit of a loose cannon and Tevez who works so hard. Arsenal have the skill & Unorthodoxness of Adebayor, Van Persie, the natural finishing of Eduardo. Vela is good off the bench as is Macheda for united. Both teams have some shit fans but you only need to read football messageboards and listen to people out in the street to hate united.

Shut your whore faces
People are always going to hate who ever is at the top of the table. If Chelsea was there people would be saying " booo for blue" If Liverpool was on top you'd be saying "of it's only because of Torres and his lucky foot" blablabla. |
it doesn't work like that per se.
the footballing pyramid in england:
Everybody hates spurs. their fans are bigots, stupid and useless
Newcastle think they're big because they have a good fanbase, ironically they're shit
Liverpool are the most famous club historically, most league titles at this moment, most european cups in england.
Everton & Man City have more fans in liverpool & manchester, the working class clubs
Chelsea think some money & being in west london makes them prestigious. it doesn't.
Bolton, Wigan, Blackburn are all hard working clubs near to manchester. Small budgets, big hearts, typical northern grit.
Sunderland think like newcastle that they're good. Ironically they've won more than them but they're still annoying
Aston Villa have the best midlands team (with historically nottingham forest second) A good likeable manager, some great young talent and lots of players eligible for england.
West Ham play nice football but nothing more
Fulham work hard but are a yo-yo club
Nobody likes Wolves & Birmingham
