Individuals need to make a statement in their own way. Not everybody needs to march, and not everybody even needs to smoke. There are quite a few people out there that believe in the merits of decriminalizing pot, because it is a burden on the judicial system, and not because they are users. This festival, allows everybody to come together for one event, and stand up together.
I think the whole event went off really well. Protesting, marching, and yelling is good and fine, but a nice peaceful protest to get your message across is something to be respected. The demonstrators showed they can congregate, and make a statement without pushing, shoving, throwing, swearing, or engaging themselves in any other lewd behavior associated with large crowds.
People need to look at this from more than one point of view. These issues effect our society in many different ways, and effects many different people. Who are you to tell them how they should make a difference, especially when you have no interest in the cause?
