http://www.uvm.edu/~vlrs/doc/deathpenalty.htm or google "Cost of death penalty appeals process" and you will find lots of supporting arguments that life internment is a lot cheaper.

You know, you'd get a lot of flack too from the people that volunteer to test pharm drugs... people do make a living off that you know...

why are you guys so sympathetic for psychopaths who are beyond fixing? i mean seriously. i'm talking about repeat crackhead/rapists and people like jeffrey dalmer and pedophiles. they don't belong in society because they are permafucked. and prison is by no means a "rehabilitation institution" as much as they want to call it that.

prison is counterproductive. and i'm talking about like the hard core prisons that carry murderers and rapists who are doing 15-life. just fucking kill them and let's move on. 'oh it costs money to kill them, bla bla bla'. no. shoot them in the head outside in the prison yard. how much does a bullet and a gun cost?

I've always wondered the same thing. How does killing people cost money? Everyone in prison that killed someone most likely did it for free. Let the animals kill themselves off imo.

Alternate accepted scenario = Superjail.

Obviously the concept of due process is lost on you Jamie.

I am sure you would just love to live in a country where anyone who does anything wrong, even if they are unjustly accoused is "taken out back" and shot. You know I can buy you a ticket to Iran, or Myanmar, or North Korea if you like. Thats how they roll.

Killing people is very cheap. Doing it justly and with proper due process is very expensive. If you want to have a system where there is no appeals process or any sort of way to contest your sentence then by all means.

Just don't cry when someone you know or yourself is set-up, framed, and executed in a matter of days with no recourse for something that might have offended a person able to do such a thing.

The mark of a civilized society is its courts system.

*edit*

I am not trying to say that killing people that "deserve" it is wrong. Far from it, but within ones own society there are better ways to handle these situations. Ones that do not cost an arm and a leg, and in my own mind are much more horrible punishments.

And Jamie, by your mentality you consider these people beyond rehabilitation. What about people that are in the states care that are mentally retarded, and will never be able to be rehabilitated and serve a productive use for society? What about the physically invalid?

Would you consider them worthy of being executed? Its the same deal, they are useless to society, and a debt. End their lives?

OK bitches. How many times do I have to say that part of my plan includes a fair trial and ONE APPEAL! If you can't prove your innocence in that time, off with your head! (Or in with the needle.)

The alternative would be to take your death row inmates and do pharmaceutical testing. They're not going anywhere and Big Pharm doesn't have to pay them nearly as much (or at all) as those who sign up for the tests voluntarily. Killing two birds with one stone, if you ask me.

(Those who make a living off pharmaceutical testing can suck my left nut. Get a real job, people!)

The sadistic side of me thinks it may be interesting to cordone off one of our fly-over states - say, Oklahoma - and throw our most dangerous criminals inside and see what happens. No prize for a "last mand standing" or anything like that. It would just be a social experiment.

not that i am comparing the jews of germany and poland to convicted killers or anything, but human lampshade tuesdays was an idea better left with the nazis. Granted they made discoveries that helped the world at large through their barbaric testing, but come on really? You would have to throw your bill of rights out of the window, and even if the idea was good, this would most likely lead to other modifications that could very likely infringe on the rights of non criminals.

that being said, go for it, i am not american.

edit: i just saw voluntarily, that would not be a bad idea for people who want to escape the death penalty. I still think meat has the best idea

Now we're getting into the meat of the issue. I do agree with you. However, I also think that if you purposely take another human's life, yours should be expendable as well.

It will never happen because of the Bill of Rights. It is a state of affairs that I will have to live with and will do so quietly. I value the Bill of Rights more so than my own opinions on the death penalty. This thread is merely a way to profess my beliefs with little to no reprocussions.

lol yea because people with down syndrome can totally be compared to people who like to cut up other people and smile and then fuck their dead body, or grown men who like to rape little boys and girls
