why would you buy hard currency? wouldn't it make more sense to buy leveraged ETFs..?

An idea for those of you egularly shop in the US: A US dollar credit card.
The reason is, you can make all kinds of purchases over in the US and pay in American cash. Then when it is time to your bill, you pay in american cash. But to get the American cash you open an American account. It would save you the 2.0 - 2.5% exchange fee from the credit cards on a CDN dollar CC. Not to mention CC's have the worst exchange rates. So you get a better exchange AND save on the exchange fee.
Just a though. Of course the idea is to buy the American dollar low, so when it comes time to pay off that credit card you are saving money at time of purchase as well.
