If you combine, WA, OR, ID you get something roughly comparable though with about the same amount of area.

Right but I was referring to the fact that California's economic power with agriculture in the US, is just insane. Everyone always forgets that California produces a large portion (I think it was like 50% of all crops for consumption in the US) of the agricultural product for the nation.

Washington and Oregon are the largest Apple and Pear producing states in the country, in fact Washington alone accounts for 60% of all apples grown in the US.

The west coast basically produces the countries entire High Value Crop sector, as well as a large part of of its normal cash crops (grains, mainly barely and wheat).

I mean, with out Washington states hops hardly anyone would be able to brew domestic beers.

The pacific northwest roughly exports half the commodities that california does at 6.1% of the US commodities trade, with california at 12.8%.

Thats according to: http://www.ers.usda.gov/StateFacts/

Combined thats almost 19% of the entire US commodities trade. The percentage of commodities that move through our ports on the other hand I would assume is much much higher.

Haha, yes. I have been a strong supporter of Cascadia for almost 5 years now. I even fly the Cascadian Douglas Fir Flag at my cabin...

I know that sites pretty satirical but I'd love to get more involved somehow. One way I hope to do so is mentioned in the above post with a group that could really research the feasibility of such an endeavor if it ever be undertook.

the L.A. port is one of the easiest targets for an attack. terroists could get weapons from north korea and it could be delivered right through the LA port. it's so big there is no way they can monitor every crate that goes through that port.

The port of SD is pretty large too.

The Port of Tacoma is huge as well, as is the Port of Seattle.

Neither of these receive a lot of funding from DHS.
