I spoke to that new bouncer at the door, he seemed like a cool dude assuming you weren't trying to get over on him. He's just doing his job, and he has years of experience under his belt. He has been doing this for a while so you are gonna have to be really really good to fool him.
So from now on it looks like Love is playing it by the book. ID's checked thoroughly, more bouncers, tighter security inside, no more loitering on the corner steps, but even with all these new guidelines I still didn't see them harassing anyone or being rude, so as long as you stay cool...so will they. In instituting this they are just trying to make the place safer for everyone and minimize the amount of complaints they get from their neighbors.
One suggestion I have for Mid-Atlantic is to have a reduced guest list next time if possible. Many who RSVP'ed with me as maybe's ended up not making it, and their biggest complaints were that there was no reduced list and they didn't want to buy a ticket if they weren't absolutely sure they were going. They mentioned if there was a reduced list it would have increased the chances in their attendance. I don't mean to bust balls, but just passing the word along since I promised I would mention it.
I was thorougly impressed by all the DJ's who performed on Saturday.
I caught the very end of Tim Robert's set, then spent the next hour and a half jumping back and forth from the main room to the cave during Adam and JR's sets. Lira looks so adorable behind the decks and she spun some great tracks too. Ali Wilson is such a sweety pie. He is one of those people that you can instantly vibe with. Friendly is not even a strong enough word... I almost had to tell him to stop talking because we started getting into some great convo's before the interview even started so I'm like save that info for when we are recording heheh but it's all good we re-ran the info. Adam is very cool too. I caught the early part of his set but they I had to run and spin in the cave but I liked the part I was able to catch. I really wished there was a bigger turnout though....whoever missed it, really missed a stellar performance. He also premiered "Urban Shakedown 2010" which was awesome to hear on Loves sound system. I would see Ali spin again in a heartbeat! He didn't play all those same boring tracks that "everyone else" plays and he brought a fresh, energetic, and positive vibe to the dancefloor at Love. It's really a shame that more of you were not there to see it.
The other Ali lol... Mahmud closed out the main room and as always he played some wonderful tunes and his mixing was on point. To be honest a lot of the times when I am at Love and there is a closing DJ on after the main act it is very difficult to keep the energy going and I find myself leaving early but every time Ali spins I always end up staying till closing.
Last but definitely NOT least I want to thank all of my friends who showed up to support me. I was very comforting to look out into the crowd and see all of your smiling faces looking back at me. You sure know how to make a girl feel special <3 Love you!!
