Music has been shit lately ...house or trance...I find myself relistening to sets from years ago because those are the only ones that sound good compared to what comes out today.

Trance in general has gotten worse over the years. I got into EDM by listening to trance, and right now there is hardly anything I like at all. I find that it sounds too cheesy and all sounds the same, nothing new or interesting. The vocals sounds like they are sang pretty much by the same cracked out female voice in every track and are always about hopeless and lost love...and then comes a dramatic breakdown with hard beats after...so predictable!

Producers need to step it up!

I think it's all about being selective and going out there and downloading sets from Dj's you never listened to before or someone you never heard of and discovering amazing tracks like that

for me - Schulz is getting better and better month after month with his shows, his sets are exactly what I love about trance these days
I'm also excited to be checking out more house dj's and actually going out and hearing them as well!

stop living in the past...be present to whats going on and accept it. you probably dont realize it but you just get used to the genre. I am sure the people getting into trance right now will be saying the same thing a few years down the road.

thats just a silly thing to say, because its not about *living* in the past.

I dont want the past to come BACK, I want the present/future to have good tunes with originality and creativity. which it is not, and thus being upset by it.

(to be honest the past has been repeating itself anyways! and its quite annoying! how many remixes of the old classics to we have to hear until we are so sick of it that we dont even care to hear the originals anymore?? come up with something new, people!!)

Mainstream trance has been shit for years. Any time I dip my toes back into the big name stuff it always sounds like emotionally dishonest, forced, and bland pop music backed with formulaic dance beats. And singing, a lot of the time. Terrible, vapid singing. There is nothing redeemable in this hodgepodge of superficial nonsense.

Want to hear new, different stuff? Go to a site like www.thesixtyone.com and check out the electronic section. All kinds of new music coming out there, which may or may not be what's "Cool at the moment".

I find any time I sit in one Genre for too long, it just gets boring. That's obvious. I also find the question "why can't songs be like what they used to be like - creative, original, and inspired!?" painful to hear; I mean - there ARE new things being done, new sounds being explored - but you can't expect it to always work in the standard trance format. These "great original songs" were great and original for the TIME AND PLACE they were released. You could release a HEAP of what is being done today back then, and the result would be the same. It caught you at a new time, a new moment in your life - that time and moment is gone now, and you just don't realize that it's more than the music that has shifted

There is plenty of great stuff, listening wise, out there. Unfortunately, this music doesn't make any money, unless you're a big DJ, and being spun in the clubs. What do clubs want? The same old, drinking, money making crowd. You find the same thing in any other club - top 40, hip hop, rock - why would this genre be any different? Do you see fantastic, original, breathtaking movies coming out of Hollywood often? You go to the small guys, the poor guys, to get the goods. If you want a real change to happen, put your money into the small artists you find, the venues that support them, and boom - you initiate change. Otherwise...

Go to OTHER places - subculture events, underground parties, etc. People who aren't making any money are taking LOTS of risks. Music is like every other effort in humanity; LOTS of competition, LOTS of good, LOTS of crap, and lots of people asking for the best without really doing much to get it

I thought so... I thought so.

well my opinion doesnt pertain to everyone, but like I said, I dont really need the old to come back, I am just not very pleased with whats coming out. I love the trance of the past but I have no problem leaving it behind and creating new memories from new tracks, so long as they are worth listening to. And unfortunately, I just dont feel that way. it totally bums me out
