oh ok.
well, you see everyone, it's funny to me because hal here looks like a 19 year old emo kid who likes to sit home and rock out to marilyn manson with his non conformist hair style and possible eye makeup. and this thread is about what to wear on a job interview. so i mean, you probably wouldn't think a guy like hal would know what to wear on one. so when i saw that he was the last poster before i actually clicked the thread, for a split second, i thought, "omg, did hal actually give advice in this thread about what to wear on an invteriew?"
and then i came in and expressed my relief when i realized he posted something off topic, in an attempt to make some people laugh (aside from myself).

I would suggest black pants with a button-down shirt in a different colour.
Deep blue with black is my personal preference on a man.
Your call on the tie. If you go with one, make sure it's an impeccable match. |

buy a new shirt and tie and ask the salesperson to match it for you

Wow...such astute advice from a former salesperson.
You just named the most common pants/shirt combo, aside from black pants/white shirt, which, dependent on industry, is usually too formal for an interview.
And if you need a salesperson's help matching a dark blue shit with a tie...you're a moron.
It's reading posts like this that make me realize why I ignore salespeople, especially in big box stores like Express or Banana Republic.

Maybe it's a NYC thing, that combo wouldn't fly here. And that comes from someone who goes at the lowest his dress code allows, polos & non-jeans.
