I agree but most synths do not offer more than two or three of those types in the same package. My point was that almost all new subtractive VAs try to be at least a little bit "hybrid."

If you have never owned a Virus or bothered to sit down for a good period of time and figure out what it is capable of you have no argument. Period.

the virus has all of those besides sampler and physical mod whatever that is. also, FM is a form a additive synthesis, as is wavetable/granular.

Granular is not a form of additive synthesis, and while FM technically is, an FM synth has a very different architecture than an additive synth.

It's all subjective. I've heard comments about the Virus ranging from being nothing but a lifeless VST in a shiny box to the only synth they ever use and that they've threw all their VSTs in the bin.

Who are you supposed to believe ?

Neither I'd say. Make your own mind up. All I know is, some awesome tracks have been made using a Virus whether it's just a VST in a box or not.

and to the guy talking about owning a virus etc etc, yes i owned one. i liked microQ better. and nord lead 3 more than that, and nord lead 2x better than that again. and then u have analogs which i have never tried but i know they are better.

to conclude; a virus is only better that JP8080 (not even always, the JP have great pads).

im buying a virus tomorrow lol..

serious.. fair expensive tho.. 4500$$ au

but i think its worth it
