This is something I was thinking about earlier today... I work in two different places right now, and in both places, there are two ladies that have a very strange thing in common: one loathes the other, and one thinks she's exactly what the other is.
For example, in one place, there's this woman that thinks she's the epitome of femininity and class, though she's far from that. And, she doesn't get along with this other woman who she considers to be "a peasant" - and that happens to be both feminine and classy.
In the other place, there's a woman that thinks she's a myth (I'm serious), and reckons all students should worship her because she's the brightest person around ever. It turns out, however, that the "bimbo" she disdains the most is, by far, the most clever (and passionate) person we know, whereas the so-called myth just suffers from a pathetic delusion of grandeur.
Makes you think... |
It's pretty common for people to ridicule their opposites or people they'd like to be but can't, so it's kind of a protection mechanism that helps preserve ones self esteem, I think.
