those announcements were just NASTY = as for those burgers, fuck me it was best to not even look at them and just eat them blindfolded - shameful stuff to be serving to people - bowls of fruit everywhere would have worked so much better - it's what we insist on back home when we do our SOS boat parties and had planned to feed a few pretty ladies myself with a grape or three...tut tut...lol

It's more than a little distressing to hear this from someone who in my opinion was one of the major catalysts for the whole electronic music boat cruise "scene" here. Maybe my memory isn't what it used to be, but I think it was the '07 Demi cruise that really whet people's appetites in the first place.

I am surprised to hear that the staff gave you the same questionable treatment as the partygoers - would have expected that they'd at least lighten up a little for the DJ.

And it's definitely true that the cruises are happening so frequently that they've become somewhat of a fad. That and the steep cost is why I've only been on 2 of them myself this summer.

However, and with all due respect, I think that the real problem is one of accountability. As cruise operators it is in their own financial best interests to cut costs wherever possible (for example by shortening the cruise time by 2 hours) while raking passengers over the coals with overpriced drinks and burgers. If they can get away with this kind of behaviour, why shouldn't they?

The promoters, while they are certainly not at fault for this ridiculous state of affairs, need to be the ones to step in and put the pressure on. I'm sure that the operators have deals that shield them from any real financial risk - promoters probably pay a flat rate to book the boat - so the operators don't care if customers are dissatisfied and don't want to come back, they are still making their money. Promoters have to demand that these people either get their acts together or lose this (seemingly very lucrative) business.

If anyone here doesn't believe that this is entirely about money... well then you don't know Toronto.

After only having a bowl of cereal in the morning and planning on drinking throughout the cruise I was determined to have a burger. Those ******s even made us wait till the boat left the dock to purchase a burger, not just a drink. So when we finally left dock an hour and a half after advertised that crappy boiled burger with only mustard and ketchup and that coors light never tasted so good! That crew sure knows how to piss people off and build up the anticipation of a drink and some food.

Demi - the music was awesome! I for one enjoy the build of a set and you certainly built it up perfectly . Perfect boat cruise music. The middle of your setreminded me of some guy named Danny Howells

This party didn't live up to the hype. It's pretty tough to top the 2007 cruise. But I still had a good time and it was better than any other average Sunday afternoon.

as for playing hard, it's always interesting to hear other people's versions of events but i have to say one thing. If u can't take the heat, take a break out of the kitchen until you're ready to come back in - The set at footwork and the set on the boat were ALWAYS in my mind going to be two entirely different sounds and concepts so make sense of that if you will.

The reason I am making a rare post is I feel I too as the DJ have to make a comment about the boat situation that seems to have plagued many parties over the course of the summer there in your wonderful city.

The fact is, it is NOT going to be how it was, especially that very epic summer 2007 afternoon. From what I hear there are almost 2-3 weekly boat parties now each summer in Toronto....???? slight overkill no? And with the abuse of drugs and irresponsible behaviour that seems to have been an unfortunate recurring theme, I feel now that the 'novelty' of spending a special day out in the sun listening to something alternative yet equally musically and spiritually uplifting is now lost on a lot of people there

I say this because I more than anyone else that afternoon got SEARCHED INSIDE OUT - this was after an initial problem the security had with me bringing FRUIT onto the boat so I could keep myself fresh for the afternoon ahead. It was embarassing on Dwaine's part as he attempted to lecute me on how as the DJ, I should be leading by example....???? But what can you do. Unfortunately all these factors have now left a bad taste in the majority of people's mouths when it comes to deciding about whether they want to part with $30-50 of your money for this.

I had a fantastic time on Sunday especially and yes I was too a little suprised by how long I was told to 'contain myself' before they could let me play at full volume. Once things were in full swing, the party WAS in full swing. Slaps though for some people that thought I was going to play harder. That's why I did Footwork the night before - still laughing at the 'music being too hard' comment

It is unfortunately the last time I will do a boat cruise there in the city . This is something not even the promoters are to blame for but the policies that the boat now enforce....

i personally think there should be a cap on how many of these boat parties go on over the course of the summer but then again, are the boat companies not going to want to make money whenever someone or anyone wants to throw a boat party?? I doubt that very much

either way, thanks to all of you who did come to both shows and till the next time - peace...xxx

So many good points. Very well said.

Exactly. I was on the Audiofly cruise on the RG this year and vowed that would be my last cruise. There is simply too many of them and a few people who don't know how to control themselves have ruined it for everyone else. I spoke to the crew of the RG that day and they told me they were going to do everything to try and get control of the drug problem on the boats...no matter what it took.

It really is a shame as I have had some amazing times at these parties.

I agree. Not sure I'll be doing any cruises in Toronto next year...

RG went from being the best boat out there to you know what... and i've been on it the last 3 years at least. It wasn't like this before, there is a huge demand for events on that boat now so obviously they started having like 7 parties a week on it which attracted the wrong crowd etc etc (nothing to do with the promoters though)

shame this all happened during demi's cruise..

The amigos cruises on the enterprise 2K are still good. Sure the crowds a little sketchy but you're barely searched, no stupid announcements, no stupid burgers, we got drinks as soon as boarding and we almost left on time.
