While I do agree with you, I think there's a downside to that too. Many ppl (myself included) get swarmed with multiple invites and private messages not only from promoters and the club's group or fan page. People get annoyed and are reluctant to stay in the club's group, or keep promoters as their friends.
Also, some clubs don't update the events on their FB page either - and then you run into the same problem as them having an out-of-date website.
Realistically the upside to having a FB page is probably better than the negative.
