OK well had I fucking had a friend DJ I would have known that, but regardless what are you complaining about? Are you just jealous?

$100 for Sony MDR500 (better than the 700's)
And still... a package deal from Metro Sound would've saved your ass a lot of cash.

LOL! Don't make me laugh they are a lot worse than the 700's. but whatever, that's your opinion.

quote:

Even if he spend $800 per 1200, and it all came out to $2400, he'd still be WAY ahead, as he'd have Techs... not POS stantons.
There's a reason why Technics 1200 and 1210's are industry standard. It's because they're built to last, they have high-torque motors, and they're bullit-proof.

Hmm yeah and they have been the same fucking TT's for the last 20 years. I am not doubting the the industry standard, but I wanted something different.
Higer torque than my stantons? Don't make me laugh! Check your sources first before stating the facts, my stantons have "High torque direct drive motor (2.2 Kgf-cm)" 10% more than the Technics 1200 or 1210's. or the new M3D's for that matter!

quote:

Why am i concerned? because idiot's like you shouldn't DJ.
You could've given me the money and let me run... it would've done you better. Seriously, tho. The mixer is nice. Better for techno and hardcore, but after you master beatmatching and shit, that mixer will let you pull off some nice technical mixes.

I am sorry I don't remember asking your particular opinion about why I decided to become a DJ. Why don't you go find a job ya bum! Oh and BTW are you on crack why would I give you any money to a big ass mofo like you!

Oh and how would giving you the money would have done me better? I have my equipment I love it, what the hell can you offer? Sexual services? ROFL! Sorry I don't swing that way!

quote:

anyhow... back to the tables:
First of all, the torque on stanton's is weaker than low-end gemini's.
Second they have the straight tonearm's which are good for scratching, but regular play they're ass, and pointless if you're going to spin trance.

once again High torque direct drive motor (2.2 Kgf-cm)
The straight tone arm is to keep the fucking tone arm from skiping as I do a lot of back cueing and I have noticed since I am a big and a strong guy I am a little harsh on my back cueing, unlike weaklings like you. But that's another story.

quote:

As for asking for help on here a while ago:
Since when did you have to rely on people in a message board to buy pizza? You didn't. You just looked up the number and called. Well... you do that here too...you pick up the yellow pages and looking for "musical instrument sales" or whatever, then you start calling the shops up and asking if they sell the DJ equipment. I'm sorry i wasn't around to answer that question a year ago as you say, when you asked.

Well because, since I live 30 min drive outside of Toronto and the town that I live in does not exactly have DJ Equipment stores on every corner or any stores for that matter. Secondly it's not like I have a Toronto yellow pages laying around anywhere. Thirdly since I don't have any friends that DJ I needed some answers, but had no one to address my issues to. So had to make my own decisions, based on what I read in the Magazines particularly IDJ ("www.i-dj.co.uk") seriously this was my best source, oh and BTW they are the greatest DJ magazine on this planet. ATM at least.

quote:

As far as i know; Play De and East Bloc sells equipment and for other record stores you could just ask the guys. I'm sure they'd tell you where to go.
The big place to go is Metro Sound. It's on Yonge just north of College, on the west side. It's a small shop, so if you blink at the right time, you'll miss it. (i'll say it again) They have package deals there, where you will spend less per peice because the packages are set up that way. They can manage to take a hit on the overhead if they're selling three boxes instead of one. It's just business economics.
Or you could go to Steve's (on queen) but i suggest against that since they're a Guitar/Drums/Piano store. and they're pricey too.

Well thanx for the info but it's only a year late.

quote:

My suggestion would be, is you call the place up you bought the equipment from and tell them it's not what you want and ship it back, and get a refund. However, you don't need to waste another $400 on UPS shipping.

Yes ofcourse right away! phew... maybe not.

What is with all the bashing. I got into this with good intentions and all I hear out of you is criticism. At least I did not go out and buy some belt drives.

And another thing your industry standard people always too scared to try anything new. WTF dude? And calling me an idiot cause I have a different taste in things I like, well that's real smart. Congrats I give you a TA Award of the month for: "THE MOST IGNORANT TWAT OF THE MONTH ON TA AWARD"

Can't you just stop with your criticism and just say congrats? I guess when you are that ignorant it's for life!

Oh it may just be that you don't know shit about Stantons that's why you talk shit about them and maybe just maybe you should read up on the info about my tables and than, only than make statements based on facts. http://www.stantonmagnetics.com/alpha44/tt_str8-100.asp

Just a thought.

That's would have been a great thought but since I did not have any friends that spin that does not realy help!

everyone knows the technics' qualifications. Those stantons however, aren't as POS as you think. In fact, Ministry of Sound has replaced their technics with Stanton ST-100's. They do have more features, and the specifications do stand up. If they're as reliable and durable as technics, it has yet to be determined.

Hey hey, no need to be calling names now. Don't get all worked up because he has a job and money to spend. It's his money after all.

again, you're probably getting the 100's confused with the 80's or 60's. Stanton has put out a competitor to the 1200 with its str8-100 and st-100. similiar to the vestax decks and the numark ttx-1 or whatever.

uhm, that would just cost more money. Thats a silly suggestion. He has the equipment, and he's happy with it. REmember, his money... not yours...

the only reason I got involved in this anyways, because I felt I had to stand up for him from you calling him and idiot and whatnot. I don't think its neccessary to be calling him names, especially when I don't see anything wrong with what he did. :P Although he should've been warned about the brokerage fees. Everyone learns.

BTW, there is the DJ Booth forum on this board, with tons of experienced DJ's who can give you advice on equipment and stuff. These guys are really helpful.

Thanx for your help but I am a big boy too. Oh and I know my stuff about my stantons. And yeah, you are absolutely right about the MOS replacing their Technics with the Stanton ST8-100's.

I guess some ppl are just to ignorant to know the facts before they get into an argument and start making up bullshit. Some ppl just never learn I guess.

Whatever... you still paid way more than you needed to.
PSSL is selling the Str8-100's for $299.99(us) right now.

(ignore the save $799.00 part... they say that pretty much about anything the sell-- their retail is normally $100 more on their turntables if they aren't on sale)

STANTON STR8100 DIRECT DRIVE TURNTABLE
Save $499.01 When You Buy Now!
List Price: $799.00
Our Price: $299.99

The Straight Tone Arm Virtually Eliminates Skipping

The STR8-100 is Stanton's super high-torque professional turntable. If you're serious about your mix then consider this high torque direct drive turntable with 3 turntable speeds (33-1/3,45 and 78 RPM). The height adjustable straight tone arm virtually eliminates skipping to keep you in the groove. There's a selectable pitch control of +/-8%, +/-16% or +/-25%, a manual pitch bend with up to 6% adjustment, plus a key adjust. Other important features include a reverse motor function and motor off switch, 3.5mm line input for portable MP3 and CD players, digital and analog outputs, selectable phono or line outputs, a remote start/stop input, and an aluminum face plate with retractable target light. Included with the turntable are a headshell, slipmat, and hook up cables.

Were you joking??

As for the rest of the stuff you said, I think you need to learn how to create constructive criticism and not argue like an 8 year old. Show some support, trancearmada could be our next local TA DJ

buddy, do you know anything about PSSL and a little thing called currency conversion?

I tried dealing with PSSL, but they don't really seem to give a shit about Canadian customers. I dealt with them for over 2 weeks in coresponding emails and phone calls. And they were just being arrogant fucks about everything and they wanted to charge me something like $150 USD for shipping. Aprox. $230 CAD. In addition to that they did not want to fulfill their 110% price guarante! So I told them to fuck off, and that I won't be doing any more business with them!

$299.99 USD = $457.18 CAD
$299.99 x 2 = $914.37 CAD

check here if you don't trust me: http://quote.yahoo.com/m5?a=299.99&s=USD&t=CAD

and that's what I paid exactly at DJ Depot but at the time when I was trying to order them PSSL carried them at $349.99 US, I guess they lowered their price after I told them about the cheaper price at DJ Depot. Since those ******s at PSSL did not want to fulfill their guarantee to me. But now the price is lowered what a coincidence?

So what exactly are you trying to prove to me now? That you don't know anything about PSSL and the fact that you don't know jack about the currency conversion? I would not want to put you down like that but you started bashing me in the first place. So?

well, its not all about features... it's all about durability and feel... well "feel" being the most important one of all for me... too many features also mean more things that can go wrong, might not, but can, time will tell i guess... techincs though combine the both and that's why they're the best and have been around for so long... well, i'm glad i got a pair of 1200s because i had an opportunity to try out stantons and vestax pdx 2000 and those 2 just don't feel right for some reason... as for staton's torque, do you really need more torque, too much is bad too, unless you're a scratch dj, i guess...

anyways, just my thoughts on the subject...
