I think everyone in this thread needs a hug . I guess since I'm not on here a lot I don't see what the big deal is about posting events but bumping your own event is def a no no unless something big has changed like the date, etc.

ive also met a shit ton of tas... plenty who came down for conference and many where ive gone up to party. atlanta, tampa, orlando, jacksonville, gainesville, etc. new york tas, tas from texas, tas from dc, tas from chicago, etc etc. ive met a bunch of european tas too. from germany, to holland, to england. ive even met a ta from australia. its really not difficult.

and when i mean i met these tas, i dont mean, oh yea we exchanged names and said hi. no these are tas that i talked to for years and some which i still talk to today.

contrary to popular belief, this isnt an elitist club. its VERY easy to join. come one, come all. thats the way its always been. it sucks when we put in all the effort and someone cant even introduce themselves and have a conversation for the simple reason that it may be awkward. this isnt a crack at you steve, its just a statement in general. while i understand your point, because sometimes it can be awkward, i just dont understand how one cant get over that. so what if its awkward for a couple mintues. eventually you get over it. and if the awkwardness doesnt go away, then okay, you tried and it didnt work. so what? what have you really lost? you didnt lose an opportunity thats for damn sure.

and +1 to everything manny said. the bbqs are for members of this site to get together and talk outside of online. its not the same as any other party thats promoted on this site. therefore it deserves a sticky and all the attention it gets.

well, actually, YEA!

an event with its own thread has room to put pictures/vids afterwards to show how it went down. and also room for discussion about that event. but because someone has poor social skills they are not entitled to have such luxury and instead they have to punch in an entry into a super long mega thread? BOOO!

that would be fine if that actually happened.

Again, we are talking about promoters who bump their own threads or have 0 replies or just 1 reply.

I do not know any of these promoters and really could care less what happens to their threads, up-or-down. If I am not interested I can & do easily ignore their threads. Yet the standard is obviously subjective and discretionary as to which event threads get closed & which get to stay open, so the "rules" are by no means concrete.

I think Manny (MJM) already does a very good job of closing threads when a promoter continually overspams & bumps their own threads for no reason. I have seen him do it & also warn repeat offenders b4 in a very civilized manner. I am sure some PMs may have been sent as well. If those particular promoters that have been warned keep it up then they should be dealt with, and possibly banned all together. But we should not just systematically close every event thread from promoters that 'are not known enough,' or 'not liked enough,' while letting other promoters we like or know do the exact same things.

And all DJs that post event threads on Florida TA must DJ for free and provide free food at the next TA BBQ or be banned 4 life

the TA beach bash was not a good example and im not pointing at you, the idea is that its ok for chatty people to make an event thread but people who just come in here to ad their event is not ok ... i think that's hokey with too much grey area.

So if they promote their parties.... Why not post a couple of times in other threads or even participate in the forum?

Thats fine & I wouldn't expect you too but I wasn't naming a specific or particular promoters. I was refering to promoters in general. especially local ones.

So then what you are sayng is I need to crack the whip & tighten my belt a little more around here? If so I can & the individual events threads will be no more. If thats what you are suggesting... I am a fair MOD & listen to everyone's opinion. I don't take sides & show no favortism regardless of how well I know a fellow member. It can be done w/o any problems whats so ever.

I beg to differ on this. This issue comes up every so often & you can look up in the archives & this topic has come up before. Ive let the memebrs speak about this & I take the best resolution & put it into effect.

well, look at it this way, all these seperate event threads i see right now on "tranceaddict Forums > Local Scene Info / Discussion > USA > USA - Florida >" are threads that have lots of pages of discussion in them. whats wrong with that? it encourages activity in the forum. so what if its discussion based off some money making production companies that bring sasha or lee burridge to town? its still "Local Scene Info". And the little guy spreading the word about his no cover dive bar event deserves to be right next to them, even if they dont have time to chat on the board.

Some or alot of the individual threads are not posted in the events thread as being instructed many times before. You know I have no idea who any of these promoters are here on TA. Riotgear is prob the only one who I have spoken to by PM out of all of these promoters. Heck he even has posted a few times here & there. Why can't some of these other promoters do the same?

Dude then Y be a part of a message board that u talk to people on a reglar basis about something you have in common EDM & not wanna socialize with them. For that just lurk like alot of people do & keep up with the parties in your area & be done with it. (not that im suggesting you do this)

Ive met a hell of a lot of TA's & near & far & have become friends off the board as well. Yes grant it there may be a few odd balls that you may not like their beliefs or way of being but hey someone may not like you for who u r as well.
If you've been around since 04 then Y do u seemed surprised this topic came up?

I have been leniant & when things like this come up I need to step up & find a fair solution & take action so things can go as they were. Trust me being a mod for a forum is not as easy as u think it may be... Especially when WMC time comes around. That alone is very time consuming, But if everyone plays by the rules & plays fair things run smooth & this section will always be a fun section to visit.

well there you go, maybe add that to the rules: to start a thread for an event you must post a couple times in other threads.
