in no particular order djs that never disappoint me.
Danny Howells : every time i have been to a Howells night i always get a dose of variety. Not to mention that he plays for 13 hours straight and pulls it off like not many could.
Lee Burridge: He has disappointed me once. Other than that i have raved hard to him many times. His music is not hard to get and pretty much in your face, but he knows how to kick a party into gear.
Joris Voorn: I'm not a fan of his productions, but he is the guy that uses traktor the best. Unbelievable mixing and energy. Even if he looks like a fag, his piknic electronique set was one of my highlights for this year.
Brendan Moeller aka Beat Pharmacy. : blew my mind away at mutek. This guy does the deep well.
Dan Bell: A legend who just plays great music, early mnmil from the 90's mixed with stuff from today.
A Guy Called Gerald : Another legend for me. He does mostly a live PA now using 2 laptops and reason, but the guy plays anything from rip your face of techno, jungle, house and so on. The guy has forgotten more about dance music than most know.
Robert Hood: no need to explain this one. he will rip off your face.
Loco Dice: I just love the different kind of stuff he puts together. His background as a hip hop dj shines through and you get a taste of the applied into electronic music that makes for great dancing.
Derrick Carter: When i want to go out and get funked to great house music, he usually is the guy that delivers for me.
Ricardo Villalobos.: I know what a lot of you will say, but i have seen him multiple times in different countries and he is simply the jesus of dance music. I don't really like his productions, but he will play obscure tracks from the 90's that sound like they were made yesterday within the context of his sets. Next level dj...you never know what you are going to get..(well if it is a big festival he will play one hour of music that the youtube kiddes want to hear, but if you stick around he will blow you away) The guy has a deep bag.
edit: Laurent Garnier: he doesn't mix the best, but man his sets have range. He plays everything and is the quintessential party time dj imo. |
You're lucky to have so many good acts play in your town. Fuck, all we ever get is Above and Beyond, Tiesto, Gareth Emery, Guru Josh Project, Above and Beyond again, and PvD, Armin, and Eddie Halliwell. Lather, rinse, repeat.
They do book some good acts every now and then, and this year the only ones were Matthias Tanzmann and Satoshi Tomiie. I couldn't make it to Satoshi, but I did go see Tanzmann and he killed it.
