The problem lies in the fact that I wasn't confident in the vitamins ability to 'make me feel better', which would suggest I wouldn't be affected by the placebo effect. However, what says that I am not sub-consciously wanting it to work?

So you actually do a quantitative check on your health (by measuring how you feel with and without the potential 'placebo'.) It's seems like you can test yourself, but perhaps the 'placebo' is strong enough that without it, you think you feel shitty?

I suppose I have too much confidence in my own skepticism. The idea of 'testing for placebo in yourself' is faulty, but it seems to me that the fact that one would test for it at all would prove that the 'willingness' to be taken by placebo is not good and therefore shouldn't work?

Either way, if it is a placebo effect, it's working well

i bet that you buy a lot of calamine lotion.

Accounting for variables. Or... "Seeing if it works".

You can't. Your test doesn't say anything about why the vitamins work. It's hard for the placebo effect to continue working when you stop taking the placebo, isn't it?

So if it was a placebo, why would it take up to and over a week for the 'effects' to start working after taking the vitamins? Shouldn't it be relatively immediately?

I suppose it all comes down to your expectations. It seems that my expectations don't match with what actually happens which leads me to believe it isn't a placebo effect at all.

However, I wont discount the power of the brain... even mine

Goodness.

You didn't do ANYTHING with a placebo. You weaned yourself off of vitamins (or cold turkey'd it) to see if your body felt a difference. It has NOTHING to do with a placebo. For someone who went crazy with the definition of mutilation, you sure don't mind using a term which isn't applicable right now!

My point was that I essentially was trying to prove to myself that in relation to vitamins, I was not susceptible to 'placebo effect'. If you wanna get technical, maybe my 'test' was a placebo effect in itself and thus reinforcing the placebo effect and so on and so on.

It really doesn't matter because the vitamins seem to make me feel better, placebo effect or not.

Thanks for your input tits mcgee. Perhaps you should get back to reading and quoting the Torah and slicing pen0rs instead of wasting your time on a stupid bitch like me?

Scientific answer is no, there is no point in taking more than 100% of the RDA, it doesn't even matter what your bodyweight is.

That's not relevant to your test, because you examined what happened when you stopped taking it, not when you started taking it.

With that said, even the power of the brain probably can't give instant results. Especially not if you're expecting a treatment to take a few days to really kick in, as most people do.

bahahaha way to get immature! Awe, did I hurwt yow wittel feeewings?

Definition of placebo

a. A substance containing no medication and prescribed or given to reinforce a patient's expectation to get well.
b. An inactive substance or preparation used as a control in an experiment or test to determine the effectiveness of a medicinal drug.

You weren't taking any substances AT ALL (prescribed OR given). Which means - no placebo. Again - stopping to take vitamins does not mean you became some scientist doing an experiment to see if they worked - it means just that. You stopped taking vitamins and your body started feeling worse so you started taking them again. No plaebo, at all.

Your misusage of the word only reinforces the fact that you're a stupid bitch, anyway
