I have a general theory about horror movies, that I'm welcome to have shot down. It basically runs that the more physically vulnerable a person feels, the more frightened they are by horror movies. Children find horror films the scariest, followed by women. Grown men are probably the least affected, and the harder and tougher the guy, the less likely he is to be scared.
Not exactly intellectual, but I think it mostly holds up. |
kind of see where you're coming from. i watched scary movies from a young age so most now are just laughable/predictable etc, nothing to be scared of.
on the other hand, my cousin. he was watching nightmare on elm street etc when he was 8/9. only thing that floats his boat now is the ultra sadistic/twisted shit. all he talks about is violence. sits there all day on his iphone using some app that makes gunshot noises, i think it has affected him mentally. if he lived in america i'm guessing he would have took out 30 fellow pupils years ago.
