I prefer the stripped down version of Chrome, SRware Iron, for some strange reason it's much more stable than chrome for me.

Well, I went and downloaded the new version. It wasn't an automatic update. I then downloaded the BETA and it was the same shit.

I'm gonna look for older versions of Chrome.

only thing I could think of is to go to options, basics tab, and make sure that google is set up as default search?

I use the Win, Mac, and Linux versions daily. They all seem to be fine here.

On the Mac and Windows I am on the Dev versions. Which are at 7.0.something. The one here on Linux I am using is 5.0.375.125.

The version I'm using is 6.0.472.51. And it's definitely not working for me.

Try uninstalling, removing the folders in your user director for Chrome, and then reinstall.
