park at universal studios take the metro and then take it back after avalon is over. took red line for my first time ever last week from Downtown LA to hollywood, beats the freaking traffic and parking rates!
As far as I know, Hollywood & Vine will be closed at 3:15a. You should be able to _walk_ from the Metro tonight, but you won't be able to walk across it when you leave.
I found out from my friend at the city that the road (Hollywood & Vine) re-opens somewhere between 9:50 - 10:00am.

12:25 and the line for Avalon is a clusterf*ck! ONE line for everyone...cash, will call, guest list...WTF? It goes back to the north past Yucca. Don't they ever learn?

Yeah, it looks like the previous event is just ending. One LONG f'ed up line for guest list, will call and new ticket sales. Planning fail.

Sheer stupidity, if you ask me. Clubs make their money from ticket and drink sales. If I didn't have a ticket, I would just drive by and say F*CK THAT. By having two lines, people could be inside drinking like fish instead of waiting outside in the cold. And if you already bought a ticket, you should NOT have to wait in line with others who haven't bought one!
It's common sense, people! Music Box is open a block away, so the competition is coming too. Time to organize Iike a real club, not some kiddie rave with promoters who don't know jack!

Not good PR for someone to come in and say what they heard and Avalon itself dispute it and be wrong in the end. :-\

Gotta say that the night went well. The main room wasn't open till 1, but they got people in the club by 12. It may have just been in the terrace, but it got people in for some good music and drinks. And if you were waiting in line around the corner at 1, you all should know to get there early. This ain't your first rodeo. They did a pretty good job of letting people know doors opened at 12, and they did. Diggers came on @ 2 and dropped and epic set. He actually played true prog which I haven't heard from him in a while. The kind of stuff that made him my idol. One of my favorite moments tho....texting Beth at 3:45 when he was starting to kick ass "what time is he playing till?" Reply..."he hasn't decided yet." One of the reasons I miss Avalon and why I love Digweed

WTF? Avalon opened at midnight, and the main room didn't open till 1am? And there was only one big line? On Sasha night, everything was organized, and I only waited in guest list line for like 10 minutes. Hopefully Digweed's set was good at least.

PR intact. Dreamworks event wrapped at 11.30pm and Avalon opened at 12 Midnight last night and processed a huge crowd into the club as fast as possible using all doors possible (including Bardot). That “line” was managed with respect to keeping order in front of the club and not having a big push and shove, as usually happens when 3 different lines converge from 3 directions at the front within such a narrow time window. It’s all about priorities… order first, ticket holders looking forward to the ‘epic’ set Digweed delivered (until 8.30am) second, “I’m on so and so’s list” folks a close third.
Of note: Will Call was actually open from 10pm in the adjacent parking lot to get ticket holders a head start and those who picked up their tickets before Midnight got a free drink ticket. Ticket holders were then lined up on the outside of that single line (so that big line was actually 2 parallel lines) and ticket holders were processed first when the doors opened, again, at 12 Midnight.
… and a 6.5 hour set from John Digweed.

honestly once no one else said a word after those couple posts, I figured things must be going well in the end, haha!
We wanted to be there last night, but no babysitter available this weekend. That's parenthood sometimes...or a lot of the time.
Glad it all went well.

PR is NOT intact. Letting 20 people or whatever in at midnight into the upstairs room to cover your ass is not "opening". Walked up front at 12:30 and they were just setting up the fences and NO ONE was going in. Stood there for a while and again, no on was going in from either line. No one was being processed. Will call, guestlist or cash sales. Line started moving about 1am.
But all was forgotten once Digweed went on. That was one mind fuck of a journey just twisting and contorting my brain. Left at 7:30 am to meet a client and he was still going. What time did he go too?
