And seriously Sean don't be a stranger around here.

I get so tired of people loosely commenting on the practices of big names like yourself, like how the hell do they know what you do in the privacy of your own studio and all?

But it really was a pleasure like nothing else to have you come in and tell us, can't thank you enough and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we'd like to see more of you around here. =]
I also remember someone telling me you used vanguard for your bass (among some other synths I never turn to for bass) and I was like "bs.. theres no effn way" so that was a very well needed reality check for me. It really is all relevant to talent and how well you've managed to train your ears over the years, good for you to remind us of that.

Its prob because it was one of my first synths and I gave up on it before I ever really knew what I was doing.
But it sounded entirely too plastic/metallic sounding for me. It did have a very unique character for a synth, but it just sounded cheap to me.
I could see now in the right hands that same metallic flavor I once despised could prob be put to good use, just due to the fact that it IS different. So for the sake of layering it would make sense, but all by itself I'm still not that sure it would sound right.

Cakewalk's Psyn II is a lot like that. I used it either for layering or when I wanted a bit of an esoteric sound or even a backing riff.

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.
