Thanks for the advice nonetheless. I wasn't planning on posting any of my works here; however, the cello audition was easily accessible and it was requested, so I figured why the hell not ^^. Plus this thread made me lol a few times, so it was worth the post.

Why don't people post in their local forums first?

A lot of local forums are rather dead, and to someone just visiting the site the "chillout room" looks like the optimal place to make this kind of post.

Basically this.

I tend to tread lightly in new forums as to make it easier on the moderators. I was pretty sure that where I needed to be was in the Production forums, but I was not ready to post my first track just yet. So here I am ^^.

I was also under the assumption that tranceaddict was the main forum board, and this was a related subsidiary. I wasn't sure whether or not the communities in each separate section were different. If there was a general discussion forum under DJ'ing / Production / etc... I imagine that I would have made my post there instead.

If there's a better place than the production section at tranceaddict to receive active feedback and critical analysis for what I know and the trance pieces I produce then, I'm all ears.

Ah! I have high hopes about you so, I just want to warn you, these people and their toys... well, let's just say that there's not a very good track record, here. They're cats, really, who find a string and play with it and when it moves - well, that's the cream in the saucer, right there - just don't bleed and they will try to cut you - to ribbons if you let them.

Anyways, they are generally nice folks who are as mild-mannered as the next few forums over. They will sharpen their claws - sure - but only if you behave like a complete ass, make boorish self-disclosure, or ask for assistance of any kind - but that happens almost everywhere.

Moderation? Heh! Let's just say that our moderators are moderate. They'll not permit everything under the sun, mind you. I think you saw what happened to that poor spammer, PSYCHO123456, didn't you? Didn't fair too well. But this forum has a tendency to moderate itself. Pron will also get you the ban-hammer.

Oh, and don't get too sucked into this, "He should be posting in a forum for his kind" line of trollery... It's feigned offense.

The production studio is where production techniques and technology are discussed but the occasional newb, unsure of his music's attributes, will errantly submit a request for critique that will be entertained by those of us who are willing to give it a listen and some honest feedback. Generally, this will only be tolerated once or twice.

Producer's Promotion, however, is the much more receptive place to do so and being that a fair amount of producers migrate betwixt the two, also good for feedback.

The added bonus is that DJ's also peruse the Producer's Promotions threads (I even got some helpful advice from System-J, there - the guy who I am currently engaged in futile effort to prove a negative with). So, yes, I've generally gotten some fairly good feedback from some good producers with a lot of technical information.
