Different brands buy their parts from different manufacturers and some are better than others. Some are ridiculously better than others, actually.
While that's true, plenty of different brands buy their parts from the same manufacturer and you end up paying the cost of a little silver badge. Westinghouse & Pioneer TVs for example. Identical hardware, Pioneer costs way more.

No, what I'm saying is that if you're going to have a catastrophic failure when it comes to technology, just because you buy something more expensive doesn't make your product immune to that. Like I said, you get duds from even the most reliable manufacturers.
While I am an advocate of spending a little bit more on a brand you know has a good track record and has a good warranty policy, Bas does bring up a good point that often you're paying more than you should because of branding. Clothes are a perfect example of that.
Intel makes the same hardware for all of it's suppliers in the same factories. Then later on they get branded. Just because something is a Mac doesn't mean it was made in a higher class factory with different components. It's the same bloody shit as Dell, HP etc

Even if you're right about them using the same hardware, they're not even in the same league in terms of visual quality though.
