Its not a limiter, when you export the wav, it doesnt keep all the data above 0.0db

thats why when you make a track as loud as possible and export, it looks like a cube instead of a giant waveform

yes but the difference to other sequencers and music programs is, when you make them too loud your audioeditor will show the -0.0db with red background, meaning it's clipping. but the wav from FL will still be on regular background meaning it has to be less than -0.0db (like -0.01db) and it's not clipping.

plus you can also notice how the sound changes in an unnatural way when you force it loud.

the whole point was that the TS should check that his levels are low enough and that there's enough headroom.

I'm not an expert on mixing by any chance, and don't really know why you're talking about the hidden compressor / limiter things. Could be a thing that I as a noob just don't understand yet. But I just prefer leaving so much headroom that I just don't have to worry about things like that.

Though it could become an issue when trying to max out your gains on the master INSIDE FL, which I don't prefer doing.

edit.

Ok, sorry bro I've had quite a few misunderstandings with people in this forum section and should really learn to control myself, hah.

Your advice was spot on.

Weird. If I export a file from FL that clips and put it into Soundforge it clips, or another sequencer - in this case I tried Cubase, it still clips. So I don't know whats going on with your FL!

As you and others have said though if people are exporting tracks that clip they need to get back to basics!

Hello,
Im still a newbe, but what about using filters (with automation)on ur patterns, to create the space that you want.
Also i have started to export my patterns to wavs, and apply izotope to them, using its presets, and then placing them back into fl.
The mix no longer sounds like its boxed.

SUp dude-

yeah using filters is good for cutting the frequencies, but still you need to dominate a frequency range using an instrument. so the sounds plays with the spectrum- in a flow of serenity.

cheers for the ad

peace

Yeah weird, maybe it's just in the latest version of FL something they added. Or maybe something wrong with my Sound Forge, it does show both of the levels as -0.0db, with the exception that FL is on gray background and everything else on red (= clipping).

Yep definitely, I just thought of mentioning this, since there really is a lot of internal limiters in music software (like dj-mixing software) and people don't even realize their audio gets limited/compressed since it doesn't clip.
