one thing ive always done since i can remeber is try to get the same sound as the people whos tracks i became obsessed with, now i find it pretty easy to get theese sounds i struggle coming up with anything original that works well, i can doit dont get me wrong but i quite like alot of the trance being played in the clubs when i go once every couple of months you dont really hear original experimental trance here where i live at least not that i know of its basically more well produced stuff that was being done ages ago with all the big techy basslines, i like them sometimes so thats my 2 £

you can give the track free but still they'll have some costs and a bad track is a bad track. If they spend 100$ in promotion and mastering and finally they only get 50$ that's a bad deal.

i know there is no real money in music production, unless you are getting alot of engineering work and remix work. For me though a person whos only been producing 2 years and only recently moved to producing trance which ive listened and loved for years, its not about making money from production but about getting my tracks signed when i am of a decent standard to get my name out there and hopefully in turn be able to get a gig or two a week or a residency. I dunno if that makes sence but it does to me

Most of us produce to dj i think ^^ because you need to sign tracks you lose some part of the "hobby part" you have deadlines, guidelines... very few people produce only as a hobby, everyone wants some recognition, a name to get gigs, a few bucks...
