Traffic going home is ridiculous and if another option like taking the subway was available i'd definitely take it instead of driving home for 1h+ every day.

for the suburbs, subways should end at transportation hubs connecting to highways, trains and buses.

We need more suburban trains like in New York. We need to overhaul the clunky wasteful GO system.

driving doesn't work for the city core.. it's not a scalable transportation method.. once you reach a certain point, it just fails, and toronto is there now.. we don't need less streetcars, we need more! and they all need to have dedicated lanes imo, as it improves the service and reduced commuting time

more streetcars for what? who's going to pay to maintain them?? they are slow as fuck and they take more space than any bus,
if anything i'd rather have a bigger subway system then.

With more immigration the city is growing substantially in all directions, a bigger subbway/bus system must be built to accommodate people that are traveling from north/east/west regions to the city for work. At the moment if i want to take a subway downtown i have to get to finch station which is ridiculous to get to in the morning in the first place and then spend another 40minutes to get downtown. thats like 1.5h commute which is bullshit.

I feel the same way but streetcars in Toronto are absolute rubbish. They are so outdated and inefficient. The fact that they are spending more money to put more lines down and bring new streetcars in is a joke.

More subways ftw!

San Francisco is a city that has a lot to offer even if they didn't have street cars, but imagine SF without them? Toronto would be just like any other meh city without them.

like I said buses are much more unpleasant to ride in - double streetcars also hold more passangers

Streetcar gridlock effects everybody! When a street car stops at King and Bathurst, the effect ripples all the way back because both lanes are now stopped. If a bus stops any of the other lanes can still move. It effects other street cars, bikers, drivers. It screws up traffic for EVERYONE.

If you want a faster ride, you would want to get rid of street cars. they slow the entire system down, when not on a dedicated track. Spadina, sure that makes sense, because of a dedicated track. But on Queen and King? Hell no.

Great they are more comfortable, but speed and capacity are the most important things for transit.

Ah...double buses hold more passengers... Let's try and have balanced points.

Not true, new trolleybuses charge batteries, which can make them "get out" of their "tracks" to do detours, go under bridges, etc etc.

We're having them soon installed in Laval.

As for streetcars... that's so 1950s... get rid of them.

each streetcar holds up to twice as many passangers as a bus, so if they get rid of all 'cars, they'd have to add approx. 2 buses per each 'car - that's more money spend on bus drivers

the problem is NOT the actual streetcar, the problem are poorly planned track routes (like you said Spadina has a well placed dedicated streetcar track)
