There's a word that sums up this sort of behaviour, and that word is 'reject.'

Well good for you. When we'll discuss classical music, I'm sure you'll be taken more seriously.

every time someone uses the term IDM it always makes me lol hard.
no one ever seems to want to explain how it is so intelligent, nor how one would want to dance to the vast majority of the stuff from that spectrum. I'm not calling "IDM" bad, i'm just saying that it seems to be a rally point for confused and lonely music nerds.

IDM is one of the most wrongly names music genres ever.
It is not intelligent just because the name says it.
It is not always danceable.
The problem is we don't really know what to call other than that. Warp Records coined the term in the early 90's and now we're stuck with it.
I don't know a single person who listens to IDM who likes the name, but everyone agrees that we don't know what else to name it...

it's a useful name for identifying a kind of sound. i don't really care about the "intelligent" part. there's plenty of stupid shite made within it.
the early UK IDM was called Braindance. that name fell out of use.

Good job on being the stereotypically obnoxious IDM fan, champ.
