Why do you always have to bring the same argument into every topic?
I/we get it, you're a feminist. Cool, but quit trolling your agenda into every discussion, ALL THE TIME.
Don't mean to be a fkn asshole about it, but it's getting to me. Let's leave this thread to the topic of Futbol & FIFA.
That being said, to overlook Spain-Portugal's bid? England's bid? Japan? I'm sure $$ had to have exchanged hands for this decision to be made. What has Qatar contributed to football in the last....forever years? |
haha, what? I'm not a feminist. or a lesbian. That's really funny. Could you refer me to the last feminist post I made - before this one I mean.
I ask that because I know in Saudi, there are a lot of social restrictions that if the same in Qatar, would deter a lot of people from going and would make a lot of people question the award to Qatar moreso than they are after the aforementioned concerns about the heat, the infrastructure, etc.
Serious LOL on that comment though, you're right about one thing - not losing any sleep over misunderstandings like this.

Fair enough. I'll address this question, just don't want to veer off topic. As Marge mentioned & you now mention, I am curious to see how such a strict Muslim state/country will handle the influx of female foreigners (fans/supporters). Will they not administer or enforce their wearing of the hagib etc? Dress code & exposing of female body parts during matches? or will they choose not to apply them to their guests? Also, as mentioned by Yohan & now Sarah, what about the unbearable heat? Unless they plan on using indoor stadiums or water mist the fans within the stadiums, how will the unbearable heat be handled for players on the pitch?
I'm still in disbelief as to why they'd chose Qatar, but hey, they'll be the ones answering to the fans/world when the time comes.

I'm sure that $$$ was exchanged, but does anyone truly believe that no one was bought off for WC 94??? Or any other WC or Olympics??
So the exchange of $$$ argument falls off as irrelevant imo
You're all forgetting that this isn't just a bid for Qatar, but for the entire middle east...just as this yr's wasnt only for S.Africa, but the WHOLE of Africa...
Couple that with the fact that it's NEVER been in the middle east before (just like it's never been in Africa til now) and there's clearly a large sentiment to go to every continent and all corners of the world.
With it going to Qatar, the WC has officially been EVERYWHERE..or at least in every contintent sans Aussie.
But even they are now part of the Asian Football Federation (ghey but true)
Malek asked what will they do with all those stadiums :
"Presenters also promised to dismantle the stadiums built for the tournament and give them to needy countries."
Also :
"On behalf of millions of people living in the Middle East, thank you," Qatar bid chair Sheikh Mohammad bin Hamad Al-Thani said.
---> Middle East, not Qatar
Don't we rememeber Africans cheering for ANY and ALL African teams when they played and not just their own nation??
I'm not saying i'm in full support of Qatar winning, but it does have some valid arguments |
Good point on all fronts. When put into this perspective, it makes sense.
