This question didn't have to be that detailed the following so here are what I have found now vote for x,y,.z a,b,c one will be of course.
All I am hoping for is answers like subtles one. |
Then there's really no academic use to this, what-so-ever.
I could come up with three things fundamental to trance production like:
1) Hypnotic Groove consisting of a standard, automated rhythm section, progressed at 4,8,16,32, or 64 bar intervals, through the duration of the song
2) 75% + Analogue Synth Arrangement with a prominent bass-line
3) Builds and releases tension
(Even though I disagree with your survey taking, feel free to use these.)
But throwing in some random technique like hard knee compression only feeds a growing orgy of syllogism. None of the answers you're going to get are likely to dove-tail into any other answer and, what's worse, is that you're getting answers based, not on fundamental technique, but subjective and personalized beliefs and aims.
Take Subtle's Answers
Melody
Arrangement
Production
-or-
EQ
Compression
Delay
The first three relate to almost any music recording and the last three have to do with techniques which can relate to almost any music recording. Not to disparage Subtle, in any way, but they are generic, nebulous answers which ultimately define most modern music production processes, techniques, and strategies.
I'm a little bemused by you're venting to the answers you've obtained from such a vague question. To my mind, they were something you should have expected, given the loosely defined criteria, and therefor should have made a correction for, before you asked the question.
