I think it's great that he's building such great demand and then prepares to drop something completely different into the open ears of loyal fans.

That being said, I'm not going out of my way to DL any more of his sets anytime soon.

Did you hear his Balance double CD? Excellent, and very distinct from what he does in clubs.

Truth, his capability in production and his artist stuff is remarkable! It's just his formulaic predictable track selection and programing for his live sets leave much to be desired after you heard it the first few times. It's one thing to have a signature sound, but another thing to make everything of yours sound like someone hit the "Joris Button".

I remember a tweet/fb post he had last year saying stop sending his labels disco-filtered house or minimal white noise

quote:
For our labels Green and Rejected we're always looking for super high quality new music. Please no disco filter house or anything that sounds like something we've already released. Please no cheesy white noise breaks and not too many cut up vocal snippets. We love fat basslines and carefully programmed beats, crispy clear percussions ...

I anxiously await what he will do next and will for sure listen, I just hope it's not the same as last year...

the thing with live sets is that if you get too many of the same artist in and around the same date on the year, you're gonna get a similar set guaranteed.

I like to space my sets out by 5 to 6 months and that really gives me a good idea of how a certain DJ's sets are evolving tracklisting wise.

not so sure about that, although i know what you're saying.

some you would - from what i hear of shm, they play the same tunes for about a year or so(though i've never heard them so i'm just going by what's said around here), and this is something i can't even begin to understand. i have to attribute that to both extreme laziness and extreme lack of curiosity in new music. that first characteristic is def embodied by some djs, but the second is so contrary to what a dj is all about that i really can't believe it when i hear this stuff.

any decent jock is gonna have so many new tunes every month, they don't even have time to play them all.

shit i'm no travelling dj, but even i get enough stuff given to me that there's no way in hell i'd be able to play it all.

there are always gonna be a couple signature tunes that a dj might be known for perhaps, and a classic or two, but beyond that it should be new ish pretty much every time.
