lol @ Steve Carroll at 0:54, what a twat.

I liked extras as well: His movies have been absolutely horrible, but i really think its cause he moved to the US

The first three seasons of the US version of the Office were excellent. After that it definitely went downhill. I liked the UK one as well, but in a different way. Immature UK humor snobs just love to knock anything American before they even see it.

Steve Carell has done some good movies. He was very good in Little Miss Sunshine. He's just found his niche now, and that niche sucks. It pays great though, so I'm not knocking him for it.

yeah but the only reason they were ok is because they were pretty much copies of the UK version lol

after that its turned into a normal US comedy: Stupid laughs and no intelligent or real content whatsoever.

The UK version of the office was brilliant: you actually learned something from the show, and the characters were so human- painfully human really, which is where most of the jokes came from.
meanwhile the US version of the show is just dumb slapstick crap, essentially.

also, steve carell is a fucking shit actor: He's almost as bad as Vince Vaughn.

I don't mind the US version of the office, and US style comedy in general: Its good if you don't want to think. but its a joke to compare it to UK comedy, which is actually funny for real reasons, and is based on real life, not just because we enjoy seeing people being retarded

I heard that several eps of the American Office were from the same scripts as its UK counterpart, but slightly modified.

I'm not trying to defend American prime time lineup content. It is awful for the most part, and anything of quality can't survive in such a popular time slot. I loved the UK office, but I don't think I'd watch it again. It actually makes me uncomfortable... too edgy, and I generally like edgy stuff. I'll gladly watch any of the first three seasons of the American one though, as it's more upbeat.

Steve Carell is like Will Ferrell now. He's typecast, and riding it all the way to the bank. I can't stand his work. However, he was very good in Little Miss Sunshine, which came out before he got locked into the rut he is stuck in now. It is also one of my favorite movies overall. There is a difference between saying an actor is terrible and realizing they have skill but choose to do what makes money. It is a job after all.

the biggest american problem is their inability to let something develop. Sometimes a show can be a bit slow to get going but they're too quick to axe it. And the bastards cut law & order. Where am I going to get my Alana De La Garza fix now?

to be fair the show was less fun since Green went incognito and Jack became DA. overshadowed by SVU in almost all respects unfortunately.

have you seen luther? its taken a while but you poms might have actually made a slightly gritty police series. about fucking time

I haven't seen it. And we have Taggart for classic gritty police Green left L&O midway through season 19 though, and another big black dude came in. Criminal Intent is also good, and they're bringing back the original duo for one final series, but I don't actually mind Jeff Goldblum doing it. He's got something about him in how he carries himself that makes it good viewing even when the scripts have gone downhill.

taggart was shit. indeed most UK crime drama has been one massive snore. of course australia hasn't done much in that regard (other than...fuck it i forget its name. ends in "side") but i look to our cousins for the good stuff, and you fuckers have done jack shit, whereas the US have L&O, the wire, southland etc.

not too long til the end of cricket season. thank fuck for that. the only good thing about this season has been the aussies getting raped in the ashes.

City Homicide? Don't blame you for forgetting it...the series was practically filmed in a cardboard box. Lets face it, most aussies don't know how to act tough and/or serious without looking like gay butterflies.

Just to piss you off, I read all of that in a ponce/edgy English accent.
