Most of the psy tracks in my collection are 145 bpm, most are from 2005-2010, the older are up to 160 but right now 145 is the average bpm.

I'd add that foremost trance is about melodies and hypnotic loops and house is about groove and rythm, i think this is most important than bpm, a lot of genres move around the same bpms and there are huge differences between them. If you check the Dance 2 trance productions some of them are at 120bpm.

The bpms are just a tool to place the elements into the measure, the kick is more visual (auditive in this case) but they're not so important, one of the first errors i had when i started producing is that i thought that at 140 bpm all my tracks would be driving and stunning, error...

Bpms are handy to distribute the genres, house at 140 bpm possibly wouldn't work because the microdynamics are very low, the sidechain sounds different because the compressor doesn't have a long time to boost , the hi hats make a crowded sound... but you can get a good house track at 140 bpm most probably but... how many dj's would include that track in his set?¿ So all the djs are playing 125-132 stuff and you pretend them to raise their set 10 bpms up?? The same with uplifting trance at 128 bpm, it's possible but it is not appropiate, a wasted idea.

"Trouse" producers i'd consider:

-Avicii

Well i consider that trouse is a commercial style... so labels started using the term... wether they're worthless or not i think there's no turning back, Tiësto must be proud, he invented a genre... according to Wikipedia the first trance song was Age of Love , what is the first trouse song?¿ It's exciting to witness how a genre borns but it's difficult to make a mental idea of it.

Certainly the 1990 trance is completely different to the actual "trance" so for dignity of the true genre a new name was needed

To add to the list: (WARNING: I don't have a great knowledge on this, just my guessed_

East & Young
BT
Pushing it a bit: Mike Foyle?

So for Trouse, instead of Trance Pants, do we call them "Trousers"?

To me, trance puts you into a trance. Of course, so does minimal, and that's not trance, so BAH.

Trance songs and trance compilations could also be classified differently. I'd definitely call "In Search of Sunrise 5" a trance album. It's very dreamy and deep and great for a long-haul flight and what-not, but a lot of the individual songs aren't trance tracks. The overall FEEL is still trance, though.

Psytrance is way too fast for me. It's just irritating. Though considering it's called "Psy", the fact that I don't use drugs (aside from booze) might mean that I just don't experience it the way some others do. And that's cool, we like what we like.

plz stop posting rodri - im getting a headache

this isnt anything new. just because tiesto needs a new marketing gimmick doesnt mean a new genre has been created!

anyway id consider this 'trouse' i guess - but guess what it was made before tiesto invented it (last year) -

if trouse is a new genre it means faithless never existed

I can honestly say that no Tiesto track has ever appealed to me. Thomas Penton told me that Tiesto got his start by paying big money to music writers to interview him and give the illusion that he was a well known act.

Music is so subjective though. If there are people that think Tiesto is a mastermind then so be it.

Most stars in music are just people who had millions before being famous, i know sucessful stars that are horrible but their father was "X" or simply they paid insane amounts, i could list cases i know personally, this happens in sport, music, work...

Just think that Ben Liebrand discovered AvB, now AvB is famous and Ben Liebrand who is arguably? better remains in the shadow for 99% of the people. Something strange happened here right?

Dance 2 Trance - We Came In Peace, arguably the first trance record, is 120bpm. This track is at 110bpm, but most people would say it's very trancey

As also Enigma was in the early 90's. Whatever is was, many people who loved it, later on loved trance. Not hard to imagine when you listen to the synths.

O, yeah, the vocals sound so great in some of those.
Enigma was really special back then.

There are a lot more factors than quality of work.

Armin is willing to tour constantly, keep a smile on his face, and make every crowd (big or small) feel like they're special to him. While none of that has to do with the music, it's a big part of the "experience" and part of the reason why he's as famous as he is.
