I miss some names here, AvB not being in the list is a bit strange to be honest, maybe a hint that this poll is serious.

Oakenfold & J00f could have made on the list, but the first one is a bretrayer , an outstanding goa mix does not justify taking part on the history as one of the best.

Digweed should be placed along with Sasha, they've had parallel stories and i can hardly see one without the other, Sasha is my fav of this 2 though probably because he was more trancey.

And Paul van Dyk deserves more than some of the names, he was a true pioneer and probably is the best dj of the old legion (involving AvB,Tiesto,Ferry etc...) the rest now play strange melodical stuff, his sets are still banging.

It would require people to have taste (something few EDM fans have these days) for J00F to make the list

Well what did you think of the first tracks in the mix? Alot of them were dark and had a lower BPM. The first half of the mix is my favorite part.

Oh come on. There are plenty of flaws in this set - Flaming June is a terrible track to end on, totally the wrong mood compared to the rest of the set. That "Belfast Trance" mash-up is pure fucking cheese as well. I also think the mixing is rather average, and the flow lacks any of those special moments where the next track feels like the perfect follow-up to the previous one.

You bang on about this set endlessly, and in the thread where you've dismissed other people's favourites as "overrated" in pompous "You've not been listening to real trance long enough to know I'm right" fashion, I thought I'd knock it down a peg or two.

Yea, sampling a detroit techno track equals being an epitome in the genre.

I agree about flaming june, other than that I think you are wrong. Personally during most of the transitions I get those special moments, still after listening to it 50+ times.

I did not mean to knock it down a peg or two, It annoys me when people talk up Tiesto like he made trance and he is classic trance and have never even heard old Platipus, Oliver Lieb (not that I mentioned either of them), or hell even J00Fs old essential mixes.

I remember first coming here around two years ago and thinking I knew it all, and I am glad that people called me out (rudely most of the time) on it and I no longer listen to what I was, that I found awesome new music. If no one had called me out on it, I could still be listening to A State of Trance or Trance Around the World today....

In 2010. And 2009. Oh, and also in March 2008.

Maybe you'll remember better if you replace 'overrated' by 'idiotic'.

I don't see anyone doing that in this thread.

Saying Magik or ISOS is the pinnacle of trance doesn't ring a bell?

It certainly is easy to accuse someone of hypocrisy when you replace their words with other, very different words, isn't it?

Not only did he say that after you'd dropped your condescending payload, the guy seems perfectly open about it being his opinion. And just how long have you been listening to trance for?
