We have recently identified an issue with a batch of pre-production DJM-900nexus mixers.
Connecting certain headphones from other manufacturers with the volume set high can trigger a protective circuit to unnecessarily power down the unit.
This issue has now been corrected with our most recent production models as of March 23rd 2011.
However, we have taken the prudent decision to withdraw the small quantity of early mass production units shipped to U.S.A. and Europe. This regrettably delays March availability to early April.
We ask those few customers who have taken delivery of a DJM-900nexus prior to March 23rd 2011 to return it to the retailer where a new model will be given in exchange.
Owners of DJM-900nexus can also contact Pioneer Service for more detailed information.
Pioneer would like to apologise to any of our customers who have been affected.
Sounds like they could have fixed that with a firmware update (if they've thought ahead enough to have included the ability to do that)... a recall sounds unnecessarily expensive.

Plugging in headphones shuts off the mixer. That's umm, really bad.

How is the S4 actually, I really want to try one because it uses a different protocol when it comes down to mixing.
