Asot trance as sub-genre is far to much honor for a radio show!! Sub genres suck anyways.

Like someone pointed out, 89-94 Was basically the Acid House Revolution, which included Hardcore, (Psy)Trance, and others, but not Trance in its "Complete form".

96-01 Is seriously the Golden Age of Trance. Do I know?! Because it wasn't too ambient that you couldnt dance to it (pre-97) and it wasn't filled with Cheese Ass Vocals that dominated over the actual Music (05-present).

Anyone who thinks the 97-01 isnt the Golden Era, simply doesn't know Trance. There were good beats from the Early 90's but nothing like you got after that.

True Story.

lol. i do agree that trance was biggest around the millenium but that rarely means best even though there were some awesome track both then and even later too, and earlier. the more people like something the more can you be sure it sucks though and that the glory days are by definition already over when the masses discovers something. most trance in 99 was crap but there were some big bombs that are my favorits today.

but to say that trance was psy ambient or acid house earlier is bullshit:

this track has everything a trance track needs, and i think its from 95-96. the formula is what is used at pretty much any successful trance until about 2003. now listen to the following tracks from 4 years later and how similar they are:

these are all from the "peak" of trance but are really more progressive imo while the first one is true oldschool trance.

Also, saying that all today trance is shit is ignorant. I have recently started to catch-up with modern trance, mostly through Orkidea's radio show and some random mixes. But of course staying the fuck away from ASOT & it's clones.

There is good trance music still being made, of course it sounds a bit differently then before, but you can't deny that the quality is compareable to the classics, to say the least.. For example, I find this track very enjoyable:

However, there are a LOT of really expensive (100-300) in ear buds. They probably have decent quality but theyll never be as good as over ear headphones and I think it's extremly stupid paying like 150 bucks for in ear buds (and Ive paid about 250 euros for my Sennheiser HD 650 headphones) because they break incredibly easy especially with daily use.

Yeah once you've heard some really bassy music like dubtech on quality headphones you can never go back to inferior quality

Kinda agree on some parts. Mine Shure SE-535 doesn't have that low bassy sound as my pair of Sony MDR-7506 or Sennheiser HD25 and never will no matter how expensive you go on in-ear buds. But they certainly bring forward more clarity in the sound in comparison, not by much but audible. Then they cost a bit more which is way over the top for most folks. FLAC or WAV is the only thing doing justice on them.

The Shure warranty sucks though! Brake them after 2 years and your in dead water.

On the topic. I reached the trance sound not much earlier than the Napster era. Thank you Napster for saving my life! And i don't feel guilty by a bit!
