the point is not having a watch left in such a crevice over a long period of time.

You're looking at it from the wrong angle. You should be focusing more on how to get the watch back in a way that will not ruin its functionality. Not how to protect the lady parts.
Not to mention with your method there would be such a crevice left anyway.

what angle should I really look at this at? i'm thinking the 90 degrees is doing ok for now.
