Right. Couple of things.
One, wine drinking didnt start because of religion, people were making and drinking wine first, then as the fairytale goes, some people got wasted at dinner one night, and one of them said "This is my blood, drink it and yee will be pissed and or blessed!" and the other blokes were either stupid or drunk enough to buy his bs. On the other hand, cutting off bits from innocent children did start off as a religious practice and continuous as such to this day.
Two, people have a choice if they want to drink wine or not, i very much doubt that many babies are asked of their opinion on whether they would like a strange man fiddle with their penis for a while before chopping a bit of it off. A decision on a proper bottle of wine in a certain situation can be very important, but its not "taking a slice out of your dick" important.

oh ffs like i'm the one that fucking brings up circumcision all the time. i get that people think it's awful.. really i do. but how many boys have been circumsised later in life because of a medical reason, and how many girls have had their labia cut off or vagina sewn tight for medical reasons? If it was REALLY that fucking barbaric it wouldn't be offered in medical clinics and doctors wouldn't perform it. they are done for two VERY DIFFERENT reasons. and we didn't have it done for religious reasons, either. |
I didnt say that you were the one that brings it upp all the time, but you did this time and its been at least a couple of months since the cor argued among itself on this issue.
How many boys? Well i dont have a figure in front of me, so let me take a shot in the dark and say not a lot. Again, it might be that americans simply suck at personal hygiene as hygiene is the reason we keep hearing every time the issue comes up, but as ive said before, this doesnt seem to be the problem on this side of the pond where the ratio of circumcised to uncircumcised is just about the complete 180 from america. If a chance of an infection later in life is the reason to start chopping off bits off people that theres isnt goin g to be much of a person left when chopping off limbs and organs that could get infected stops. As for being offered in clinics, again difference between the two places. In america it seems to be that as soon as youre handed your baby boy someone is there ready willing and happy to offer to cut part of his penis off, while here it more "we would prefer if you didnt, but if you insist on it, at least have a medical professional do it, not some possibly drunk idiot in a funny hat"
As far as asthetics go, im a straight male so im not in the habit of sucking dick, but a nie percentage of my friends happen to be female and those that arent lesbian do enjoy a nice dick once in a while, and as they tell me that if the situation progresses enough that the pants are down circumcised or uncircumcised doesnt really matter as long as its hard and doing its job. Maybe im just friends with very understanding girls, or european women are less shallow than american.
It may not be considered barbaric (in america) now, but if the whole thing didnt have roots in religion, if someone came up with the idea today, advocated publicly and carried out circumcision of a baby boys penis, he would get the living daylights kicked out of him.
